    Hello all

Code p1121 prompted me to replace the coolant control valve. I've went through multiple threads and videos then drained the ICE coolant, changed the valve, then refilled the ICE coolant. I used this video to burp the air out:

Here are a couple of questions

    1. The CEL - Should I reset the code, or would p1121 reset on its own immediately if done properly?
    2. Overflow tank level - I did not drain the overflow tank but still emptied out about 1.75 gallons of coolant. After refilling, I started up the car, checked the radiator filler and it was completely full. Left the car running and refill as needed as in above video. Next morning I started the car, heard some sloshing, turned it off and now the coolant level is way down on the radiator filler while the overflow tank is filled over the "Full" mark. Am I supposed to drain off excessive from the overflow tank? Am I suppose to top off the radiator filler to all the way up, reaching the cap?

    3. INVERTER coolant pump replacement recall - I wasn't there for the recall but on the invoice I see part # 04000-32528 for the pump kit and a separate part # for the SLLC. This was done at 120k miles. Am I safe to assume the coolant was drained and refilled?

I drove around the block and everything seemed normal. Just want to make double sure I'm not going to get stranded on the highway.

Thank you! Couldn't have done it without Priuschat but every time I am skeptical if I did everything correctly.

I suggest to reset it. It will reset itself after a number of cycles which I believe are 40.

Yes fill radiator again to the top. You might need to fill some coolant for two three days until all air is out.

Yes the only way to change the pump is to empty the inventer coolant. It is a very simple coolant system comparing it with the ICE.

Thanks for all the responses! Should I be concerned that it's past the "full" mark on the reserve tank?

I would not worry much if it is a little over but you can take some coolant out from the reserve tank with a little hose or a turkey syringe or a mittyvac,

I remember one time when I went to the dealer for an oil change they topped off my reserve tank with coolant all the way to the top. I was upset but it is not the first time they messed up.

Yeah it was strange - I noticed the reserve tank had coolant left after draining most from the drain plug, figured I'd probably end up filling in less than 1.5 gallons but it's over 1.5 gallons even factoring in spillage. After burping and starting the car the reserve tank was almost all the way to the top I thought the pressure was going to pop the hose.

And now with the radiator fill hole level down, I thought the system would redistribute some from the reserve tank to bring it back up. I guess I'll fill up at the radiator and drain some out of the reserve tank.

    Not so fast, A-train.
You can easily pinch off the lines going to the pump and change the pump WITHOUT draining the inverter coolant system, reservoir, or even the bulk of the hoses. I'm a big fan of not making assumptions on stuff like this. :)

Or pull them off and quickly push on stoppers. Both methods would lose about the same amount (a few tablespoons), but the stoppers would seal 100%, and are easier on the hose.
