All things considered, I decided to sell my Prius as is to a local car buyer that offered $2k for it. (Got a confirmation from Geico that this is resolved as at-fault on us.) A little negotiation was done by my husband and it seemed we could try even for more but they didn't give me time to shop around (of course) and at least they beat the other price I had been offered, so we signed the paperwork on the spot. They will come back with a tow truck this week. My heart's torn since this was my dream car I was finally able to buy (with 0% APR!) 5 1/2 years ago.. Even though the upfront cost was high, the gas savings was amazing and helped my frugal budgeting so much over the years. Currently I am eyeing on this same 2014 Prius (Four instead of Three) with 128K miles on it for a little less than $10K, also 2013 Prius C with 87K miles for a little less than $9K..2014 Prius looks good but don't know why it was auctioned while there is no damage/accident history on Car Fax report. Is it normal? And 128K miles is a little concern although mine was perfectly fine and seemed like it was going to go strong for years to come. Prius C seems like a very good deal considering it has a clean title and the lower mileage. I think under $10K these are the only choices for me, it's not easy to find a good Prius/Prius C with a good record and price at the same time! Glad to hear the update. Good Luck on Prius searching! Just my opinion, but very tough choice....I would opt for the 2014 for only $1k more. I absolutely love my "C" (second "C") after 5 years, and still hope to keep it for another 5-15 more years. But at the same time kinda too early to tell if the "C" will have any issues with EGR, etc. I am on top of my pm for both. I am just thinking the 2014 for overall one pick and a little more room and comfort, possibly safety?. But hope it is not from that "same" auction included in the previous Prius!?!?!
A quick search shows that 2014c does have the egr valve, but unsure if it has same clogging issues as the liftback. I have not read very much problems on the C....obviously not as much as the liftback. I am only at 46k so I am not worrying yet. My 2015 only at 28k, so I dont think I will even have to inspect for a few years Again, very tough choice you have now picking. I would not want to be in that position.
Here’s my last update: I couldn’t go see that 2014 Prius four, the dealer was closed today, not”meant-to-be”, next. Went to see 2013 Prius C and test drove it, it was fine but the space was tight. Wasn’t 100 % sure and not very excited. Then in the warehouse where the owner stored his inventory I saw a 2010 Prius Three with 95k miles on it, and he said he would match the price to the other one if I pay cash. Even though it is an older Prius seriously you don’t feel that way because it’s super clean, and the previous owner took a really good care of it. It was such a steal and I had no doubt, my husband said I was glowing and he knew this was it. Clean title, one owner and 90k service was done at a toyota dealer right before it was sold to this dealer. It really doesn’t look like 4 year older than what I had, super impressed! I’ll be picking it up tomorrow and this time of course putting collision coverage back on Thank you!
Consider also the Honda Insight. They are less known than the Prius and so could be just as good but lower priced. Anyone have insight into Insights?
Well, I am in the same situation as yours. Same accident and worse damage since the rear tire is bend in and the car is not drivable. I found a mexican guy who would fix it for 2K with used parts and when he came today trying to reset the computer, he made it worse. Up until this morning the car would start but it won't let me shift to D and a message saying (Shift to P and move the car to a save location). when he pluged in the little thing under the stearing wheel to read the code the car just died after he pressed few buttons in the small computer he plugged it in. literly, the car died nothing in the dashborad and the key won't open or close. We tried to unplug the battery in the back and it didn't work we just got a triangle warning light and a blinking red light of a lock on a car. I don't know what to do now! or what is the situation! I am trying to find out what happened to the car's computer! the computer was working fine untill this morning. Please if anyone has any idea of what might happened to my car or if anyone has been in such a situation, please advise.
Oh! I don't know much about the recent models of Honda Insight but when I was shopping for a new car back in 2014, I actually test drove Honda Insight 2014! (I used to own Honda Fit and love Honda car designs in general) I liked the fact that it's hybrid but the overall space was a little tight. After all Prius was more impressive and won over Insight.. but thanks!
Yes, I got it on Monday. 2010 Prius III. I'm happy about it. Only thing is the smart key, the same trim III (my 2014 Prius was also Three) but the unlocking by the touch on the handle won't open all doors + trunk, and the passengers side door& the trunk don't have the sensor either. (I hope I'm describing it right, English is not my 1st language )I liked that feature on my 2014 Prius especially when you have stuff full of a shopping cart and want to open the trunk without searching for the key in my purse. But oh well. I'm still happy that I was able to find such a good deal.
"IF" I recall correctly, I think you hold the lock and unlock buttons for a few seconds and it will change that. I don't remember where it is, but Toyota has some video about that. Maybe check the owners manual also??? I looked at my bookmarks, but they are all blending together! Sorry. I'm certain someone will chime in with the correct procedure though.

Oh no! I'm so sorry. I hope someone here will be able to give you advice. Or maybe it might be better to post a new thread so people will notice yours. Was it exactly like my case, with no collision insurance? The guy at the dealer where I bought the used 2010 Prius told me even for 2007 Prius with over 100K miles insurance companies still pay close to $8K, and overall Prius retain values pretty well, and if I had kept the collision coverage I would have got easily over $14K for replacement.. I was like, dang it! A BIG lesson and I won't remove the collision coverage anytime soon this time. Hope you'll be able to find a way to fix it or replace it with not too much hassle
