2012 Prius v - ABS, Brake, (!), VSC lights on suddenly

Hi everyone, I took my car in back in November 2018 because I was experiencing symptoms of a warrenty enhancement that was sent to me through the mail. The symptoms were that my brakes would drastically lose power at random causing hard rough stops and almost getting into a few car accidents. Along with this loss of power was 4 check lights, the abs, the brake, the traction, and one other light plus my regenerative braking is not working. They deliver the car back to me and say they were unable to retrieve any codes because the check lights turned off and because of this were unable to fix anything. Almost 3 months later, i bring the car back because the check engine lights are now permanently on. This time they state that they are going to run a diagnostic to check if the problem is from the recall and that if it is not i will have to pay $99. I immediately question that because this was not discussed the first time i brought in my car, and i was never charged anything the first time i brought it in back in november nor was I told that I would have to pay if it wasnt a recall problem. I sign it anyways assuming the problem is from the recall, since the symptoms are exactly the same symptoms as the symptoms you would experience from a bad brake booster pump and assembly. Of course i get a call 4 hours later telling me that the light they tested was not from the recall. They claimed it's from a bad brake sensor. I find that odd they tell me that over the phone because they claim I need a right rear hub and bearing with wire harness on the papers. Someone tell me Toyota is a liar and you can prove it! Please.

 

If the speed sensor is integral to the hub, that’s possible. I don’t know whether it is.

 

Have the same issue on my 2012 Prius V with only 55,000 miles. Abs lights came on and buzzing sound every 3 seconds from just in front of steering column. Toyota dealer charged $270 for computer diagnostic then gave me a parts and labor estimate for replacing brake booster and master cylinder of $4400!!! Independent mechanic can order parts from another Toyota dealer in mainland US for $1400 less than the $3200 that dealer in Hawaii quoted and labor for much less. But still will be costing me about $2500.
Searched recall sites and regular 2012 Prius models had recalls for exactly the same issue but no recall on 2012 Prius V brakes. Toyota... Really??? Same issue and no compensation?
Anyone have luck getting Toyota to cover this???

 

I currently have same symptoms on my 2012 Prius v, I just replaced the 12v battery and the dash lights are still looking like an Xmas tree.

The brakes and steering are stiff, so there is a major issue somewhere.

The Prius has 114K on it, I sure hope it isn't a problem with the brake booster or ABS accumulator..... Lotsa $$$$$$

Here's an image of the dashboard as it looks now, note the HV battery shows 80%, so I think the big battery is OK.

I will bring it in to the local Toyota dealer & hope their diagnosis is accurate & honest!

 

Well, took the Prius in & they had it 2 days to diagnose... It was the ABS Accumulator assembly. Took a day to get one delivered & another 2 days to install and update my Recalls. Picked it up tonite & it performs just as it always did, before the Xmas tree lights on the dash.
The total cost including diagnosis and taxes came to $2300... not cheap, but not as bad as others on the board have reported.
I hope nobody else has to go through this ordeal. They said that the auto technician was their senior tech with 45 years of Toyota experience... he is 74 years old!

 

BTW, I have 114,300 miles on the Prius v and look forward to going to 260K like my 2007 Camry Hybrid.

 

$2250 Sounds more reasonable than my quote by a Toyota dealership in the DFW (TX) for $3,500( parts and labor). Do you mind sharing what dealership and how long ago you had your repair done? My service advisor said unfortunately I am missing a specific code for Toyota to cover the actuator issue. My Prius V 12’ (112k miles) went into the dealership with no lights on but a lot of clicking when breaking at stop lights and they fixed clicking and then they returned with diagnosis that it was an actuator issue now not allowing them to reset breaking system so now i have all breaking system lights on my dashboard on. As they took a week to diagnose the problem, the dealership didn’t charge me anything but now I’m trying to shop around for a better quote.

Sounds like a run-around and cash grab instead of doing the campaign, while possibly billing Toyota for the campaign.

 

I have this same problem too now. I have appointment with dealer tomorrow. I have 59,000 miles. I bought it used from somewhere else a month ago when it had 55,000. I drove it 4000 miles and got an oil change yesterday. Now these lights and the same symptoms. This is a lot of money for them to replace the brake system. Is there anything else I can do? I know a mom and pop guy. ???

 

I have the same problem. This has to be a known issue. There is still some warranty left. It expires in February for the 2013 Prius V with 59,000 miles
