Any dealer that requires financing through them, doesn’t get my sale. I have a local dealer that insists that’s the only way to get the cash back, etc, but they’re wrong. That’s THEIR policy, and not every dealer requires it. I’ve talked to several that don’t. I’m in sales myself, in a different industry, so I call bs on these dealers ‘requiring ‘ financing.
I’ll keep my perfectly fine gen 2 before getting taken by some car salesman.

This is in some ways very cool because if you live in the South and own a Prius Prime, you are owning a rare car! It'll turn heads when you drive around. Of course, it's a pity that Southerners don't get to have this great car.

The triathlon one says you can only apply it to down payment within the terms.. the Uber one did not. The $1500 was applicable to the cash payment . But yes it was definitely about recouping costs for them via financing.

Do still get the california $1500 rebate?
Dealer and name of agent if you don’t mind.
My deal with Roseville Toyota fell through also because they want some special insurance “livery” for the Uber rebate..

The dealer that I went to “Roseville Toyota” wants a livery insurance or some kind of special insurance to qualify for the $750 uber rebate. They said if you get into accident while driving for uber it could go back to the dealer, even though it wasn’t finance under them. Did any of you guys with uber rebate get that?

I had a bad experience at Roseville as well. Wanted to charge me $388 to register car in CA but I don’t live there. No other dealer was going to do that.

I bought from Maita Toyota. Chris Martin was amazing. No BS. If there is a referral reward let me know and I’ll split it with you (message me for my contact info when you’re ready to buy). Still got the $1500 CA rebate and the $500 triathlon. Had to provide my triathlon membership number.

Good luck. Lots of prime LEs in Sacto area right now.

Thanks for everybody’s post in this forum.

We have a very limited supply of Prius Primes in Ohio! My local dealer couldn’t find the trim and color we wanted within their 250 air mile dealer trade radius. Plus no deals!

This had me searching on the east coast and stumbled into a great deal and an easy solution for my trade in! We have Carmax dealers in Ohio but had no idea they had new car dealers in other states until I stumbled onto a Carmax Toyota Dealer in Laurel Virginia. We had already had our trade in appraised at the Columbus, Ohio Carmax location and they honored that quote in Virginia. They have the same no haggle price policy at the new car Toyota Dealership in Virginia. I put in some contact info on the their website and boom a price popped up. Had them contact me and the deal was done. Left Ohio at 5am in my trade in and got back home at 9pm, over $4000 in savings compared the local dealership deal. Plus we would have settled for a different color.

    The purchase:
    2020 Prime XLT
All Weather Mats, Door Guards, and wheel locks. Magnetic Gray, Black Interior

    MSRP: $30,879
    Final Price: $26,977

Includes: $1500 Cash Back reduction from Toyota. $118 doc and temporary tag fee.

Tax will be taken care of when I title and register the vehicle here in Ohio.

Now we are looking forward to that federal tax credit!

    Well, I pulled the trigger
    Retail MRRP: $30,918
    Dealer discount: $2864
    Cash back rebate:$1500
    Uber rebate: $750
Car includes door guards and all weather mats plus cargo mat

    $26,163 +ttl

I did get the 8 year extended only because they cane down to $1800 on it and it’s less than the cost of a replacement screen

    pick up Tuesday

I have a hard time seeing how what the dealer said could even possibly be true.

This Beaverton, OR dealership (with 25 new Primes) seems to offer a good price. If one can apply $4500 tax credit, then this Limited Prime would be $27,456. The LE would go for $22K. Not able to see what extra fees there might be.

Please don't use the $4500 tax credit when comparing prices. If I did that, our LE would have "cost" $18,500 (not including CA or SCE rebates even)
The "$2758 off MSRP" includes a $2000 cash/rebate from Toyota. Myself and others have gotten ~$3200 off MSRP, NOT including the $1500 rebate from Toyota - just the dealer discount. So in this case, the OR dealer is offering $758 discount vs $3200 that other shoppers have gotten.
Not a deal. Gotta compare apples to apples to do it correctly. Our pricing details: Prius Prime - official prices paid thread | Page 159 | PriusChat

First of all, all California Prius Prime buyers, the $1,500 California Clean-Vehicle Rebate Program for the Prius Prime is going away for good on December 3. See my post above for the details.

If you live in California, now, it's the best time to buy a Prius Prime before the rebate goes away. If you have already bought it, you must apply online for the rebate immediately before the December 3 deadline.

To answer your question, you need a California driver's license to qualify for the rebate.

I filed my application yesterday. Thanks for the headsup..also got approved for the additional 2k "poor" incentive from them. I did notice the dealer got me for $240 more than we agreed to, so i'll have to go back tomorrow to figure out why and if so how to get my money back (what a hassle). On the other hand I have 0 doubt this will force toyota to increase range on their next prime to at least.. 35 miles.

In turn I thank @MTN for pointing out how to apply for it. I was thinking it was a tax credit, and I would have missed it altogether.

Yes, I think so, too, that the next Prius Prime will have a 35-mile or longer EV range. 35 miles is about the typical round-trip commute distance for most people, and the current 25 miles falls too short.

Nevertheless, with the new, stricter eligibility criteria, they are also reducing the rebate for eligible plug-in hybrid vehicles from $1,500 to $1,000.

Moreover, by the time the next Prius Prime becomes available, also the $4,502 federal tax credit may go away if Toyota sells more than 200,000 EV-capable vehicles by then.

No issue from my dealer concerning the Uber rebate and insurance. When i applied to drive for Uber, Uber rep. talked about which insurance company was OK with Uber driver using them but that was about it. Uber rebate details doesn't say anything about insurance, just need to be a active Uber driver.

The Triathlon rebate was the hardest for my dealer to find in their computer system. For some reason not all dealers post all the offers available. So, i just called around different Toyota dealers in the area I'll be buying from, if one dealer is honoring the offer, the rebate is available to all the dealers in the area, it's just a matter of them finding it and entering it in the sales contact. My experience was that I had to fight with the finance people multiple times to get the Triathlon rebate and luckily it was somehow buried on their own website when i did a google search.

I have a question regarding Uber rebate. Does it need to be under my name or someone else so dealers will honor the rebate? My cousin is an active Uber driver and I can ask him for help.
