Time to remember how to change the clock in the car. I knew I should have paid more attention in school. Also, had a strange experience this morning. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I heard a car panic horn going off. At 1st I thought the neighbors car was causing the noise. I opened to door to the garage to see my Prime as the cause of it. The car was not locked. I did have the fob in my pocket so I hit unlock and the noise and flashing lights stopped. I hope that somehow I triggered it in my pocket while brushing my teeth. Never happened before. Might be left over ghosts from Halloween.
lol, pocket trigger...leaning up against sink/cabinet? have had it happen a few times You have your owners manual? check back contents and alphabetically search for "clock" or "settings" Should give you the rundown
That’s the subtle “hey you haven’t turned the engine on in a long time” warning . I’ll have to spin through the manual or try perusing the menus on the way to soccer this morning to get the clock right . The harder one to get is the RX450h. That has two, and one has the hands on it. That requires reading up again .
Reading from other threads, IIRC, there are two clocks to set on Prime. One on the MID and another on the Navi. I have changed the time on MID before, but never on Navi. Where does the Navi clock show up?
Actually, I don't use Navi often enough to notice any difference. Does the time actually show up somewhere on the screen?
If I recall, the Navi clock can be set to adjust automatically for daylight savings time. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
"the Navi clock can be set to adjust automatically for daylight savings time." And gets its time signal from GPS. The check boxes to switch these functions on are in the set up screen of the big screen.
I don't think the navigation system adjusts for daylight savings automatically. It receives the time from GPS, but I still had to go into the menu and toggle DST off.
This sounds correct. Navigation clock: always automatic, no manual adjustment. Navigation time zone: can be done manually or automatically. Navigation DST: can only be done manually For navigation settings first press the Menu button, and then go through Settings -- General -- System Time. California was supposed to switch to permanent DST this year but it didn't happen. Hopefully it will happen next year. Everyone hates the clock change, and most people prefer permanent DST. Main clock: Select and adjust using the arrow/OK/back buttons on the steering wheel.
I changed the MID clock after midnight so it rolled over to midnight twice. That meant this morning when I got in, the car thought it was Nov 4. When I changed the date, it wiped out the Daily Eco Diary. Sigh.
This is actually very funny. I saw a comics joke a long time ago in which this funny character would wake up to the loud alarm ring of his bell clock at 2:00 AM. He would then complain why they were choosing the time to adjust the DST so inconveniently. I guess the joke is on us.
heh that feature is broken on my hybrid, 2 months later and I still have 7/8 of a tank. Maybe mine is more subtle than everyone else’s
Depending on congressional approval and which state you are in, you may end up turning DST off and adjusting one timezone to the east. #DitchTheSwitch.
Right. Mine did not adjust. Is I just turned off DST on the navi display. Then changed the MID time with the steering wheel controls. And we really need to dump DST.
OK, for the first time in over two years, I have set the wintertime on my Navi. Now, where do I see the clock on the Navi???
Bottom left But seriously, all you do is select DST on or off. Everything else is done automatically.
Well, OK. But that's shown only on the set-up screen. What I meant to ask is, Is there anywhere on Navi screen I see the current time displayed while using it?
Whether you see it or use it or not, the charging schedule is using it. If you program it with enough time padding that an hour either way won't affect you, then I don't know of a reason why you'd bother with the DST setting. But for me, it's a pretty insignificant chore. Much easier than taking out the trash and quicker than brushing my teeth.
