Hello all I am trying to convert led bulbs to halogen to conform with local laws. The connectors don't allow for halogen bulbs do i need to cut them off and find halogen connectors? whats are the correct names for these connectors and where can i purchase them? see my connectors in images attached any help would be appreciated
In view of all the challenges you would need to hurdle, if I were in your place I would seriously consider leaving the lights alone and being an outlaw. It's not just a matter of the right plug, halogen bulbs generate tremendous heat and need to be installed in fixtures that can handle it. Their electrical requirements could easily mandate a heavier gauge of wire than what you have in your original harness. Naturally, the fuses would also need a higher rating to accommodate the additional wattage. If memory serves me, LED circuits often require additional solid-state components, and I am just thinking that running halogens on such a circuit may cause unexpected failures that will be difficult to diagnose. At the very least I believe you would be faced with replacing the entire headlight assemblies to accommodate halogen bulbs. Splicing new plugs may turn out to be the easiest part of the conversion.
Hello pluggo I forgot to mention I have brand new headlights that take halogen lamps. The only obstacle I have from what I see are the connectors not matching halogen bulb connectors. Is their a guide how to do this?
England doesn't allow LED bulbs? God first knives and now this. I don't have a schematic but if I was set on it I would use relays and heavy wire and use the led wiring to trigger the relays. That's what I would do as that wiring will get really hot in extended use. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
