Updated mine and it broke CarPlay. Luckily a power down fixed it.

When I updated to IOS 13 I had to completely remove the Prius from my list of Bluetooth connections and re-add the vehicle in order to restore functionality.

Sorry to hear that! I meant by turning off/on my iPhone. Have you had any success in reconnecting?

No. I shut the phone off and tried to reconnect. The car initially reconnects then disconnects. This has happened repeatedly. Three times now the screen display has gone dark then restarted while I was driving the car. The car didn’t shut off only the infotainment screen. I sent an email to toyota but haven’t heard back. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else

Yes a few have reported the infotainment system spontaneously restarting.

That's why I put off updating my devices as long as possible.

I’m running iOS 13.1. No problems so far on my 2017 advanced.

ios update somehow enable the text to voice reader functionality, plus the quick responses... i had tried to set that up numerous times so it would display texts, but it never worked... suddenly, now it does...

looking forward to customizing the quick responses... heh heh...

Apple really would prefer that you only use (expensive) Apple accessories, so they really don't put much effort in complying with standards so iOS devices can work with third-party accessories. Their attitude pretty much is "what we do IS the standard; do it our way or get lost". Like when the EU mandated that all mobile phones had to have micro-USB charging ports, and Apple successfully told them to take a hike. Or when they named their mobile operating system "iOS", when IOS is the name of the operating system used in Cisco routers (the biggest company in the network infrastructure market). Cisco was big enough that Apple had to negotiate with Cisco that the Apple OS would be spelled "iOS" (lower case i) to distinguish it from the Cisco OS.
