Hi Prius owners, We have two 2nd gen 08 Prius in the family and 1 of them starts generating the following electrical issues. Randomly resetting the trip and clock at start. Also randomly activating the car alarm usually shortly after when locking the car with the fob key. Also noticed higher fuel consumption calculations on the screen. I just wonder if the 12v battery dying or read somewhere about a faulty fuse. Is there anyone else had this issue before?
It is definitely a power supply issue–you are losing the 12 V to the clock and combination meter. For it to be a fuse it would have to be something like the fuse not seated correctly (or otherwise not making good contact). But more than likely a bad battery or loose connections at the positive and/or negative terminals and/or the contact to the car body These are all in the back where the 12 V battery is. Test the battery and replace it if necessary. If the battery tests ok, check the connections. If these are all ok, make sure the battery is fully charged.
