500K KM plus

    Hi everyone,

    Have not been on the forum for a while and am wondering how many owners of Gen 3's have crossed the 500K KM mark up here in Canada.
    I have 504K KM on mine.The only repairs have been all four wheel bearings. The last one did not fail till 485KM. I have just done routine maintenance and have declined all recalls except the seat belt bracket. I figure if it isn't broken do not fix it.
    All else original. The struts life has really surprised me . The ride is still good and no tire wear. Original starting battery (2012 model ) and traction battery. Everything works just as new. A little wear on the drivers seat but that is it.

    So your tires have never worn, still on factory shipped tires & never been replaced?

    I wouldn't hesitate on the other recalls, in particular the inverter software update, which is supposed to protect the circuitry connections during hard acceleration.

    Dare I ask: has the Exhaust Gas Recirculation and intake manifold seen cleanings?

    (I haven't a hope-n-hell of making 500K; in 2~3 years we might pass 100K :oops:.)

    Yeah.

    My memory's kinda vague but I think:

    inverter software update (to protect circuitry under hard accel)
    Brake booster check
    air bag fix (Maybe what OP refers to as seatbelt?)
    Second inverter software update (to avoid dead-in-the-water situation)

    i haven't done mine, and they say the south is the biggest problem with heat and humidity.

    still, if there was one recall i was going to do...

    I second Mendel's question, have you cleaned out the EGR in your 500km/310mi of ownership?

    There's no way his factory tires have lasted 300k+ miles. I assume he's saying that the struts are still working like normal, as defective struts can cause irregular wear on your tires.

    Yes I did change my EGR at 400KM as they service department were in there changing the spark plugs. I if I remember it cost more in labour to change the EGR than the plugs. I felt with that many miles it was a good idea.

    Did not do the inverter recall as everyone I know that has done it has had a slight reduction in fuel mileage results. I will take the chance on this one and not do it.

    On the fifth set of tires. Usually average about 103KM on summer tires. Yes I meant the struts are original.

    I'm a little incredulous, that at 400,000 kms (have I got that right?) the intake manifold and EGR was not a hopeless lump of carbon. The service department "changed" the EGR, replaced it with new? The main component, the valve/cooler assembly, is around $500 US*, and I would estimate 3~4 hours labour, for simple replacement. Then there's clean-out of the intake manifold: it has EGR passageways, and by 400K kms I think they would have been impassible, for some time.
