Anybody else notice intrusive advertisements mixed in with thread posts? They are enough to drive me away from here totally. I can ignore the ads on the sides of the page but NOT interspersed with posts.!
i had kablock, which worked great. but i just updated to catalina, and it doesn't support it. i guess it's back to the app store...
Sorry, all. This was an inadvertent addition due to a change in Google's auto ad placement. I'm going to work on fixing it, and you can watch out for a cheap way to eliminate all ads from PriusChat by becoming a supporting member. I realize that people hate ads, and will do everything I can to meet at a midway point with you all.
danny, many of us would be willing to support the site, i believe, and hope you come up with something soon. and get the 'buy us a beer' icon working too!
This is a major jarring change. In my opinion current members HAVE been supporting PriusChat for years. Financial support should be optional for current members and possibly required for new ones. Otherwise you will likely see a drastic reduction in current member traffic reducing the value of this forum for you and for users. It was actually PriusChat that directed my son to buy his first Prius in 2005. He replaced that with a Prius v in 2015. Those experiences led me here and to buying a 2017 Prius. If donating to remove intrusive ads becomes mandatory I will move on elsewhere.
With AdBlock Plus extension on my FB, I don't see any ads on PC, except when I manually turn off the adblock to see the Amazon link insert in the comment. PC app on my phone is totally different story. It is loaded with ads, but I hardly ever use the app.
I've gotten so much help and saved so much money through PC and the people here, I'm game for supporting it even if it didn't have ads in the free version. And I see the "Buy Us A Beer" coming soon link at the bottom of the page.
@Danny On my iPhone the persistent top ad hides the PriusChat header and menu. In portrait mode I can select my username but cannot select to see alerts due to the ads.
No, he doesn't have as much control as you think. BUT.......YOU can turn it off......for more sites than just this one. AdBlocker Plus comes highly recommended. I've been using it for years now.
