    Luckily the three (or is it four...) times I've done this the hatch holds together and the garage door derails, lol.

    I think it's so easy to do since the engine doesn't start till after we back out the door and we can't hear that the hatch is up. One time the wife backed out with the rear passenger door open, luckily the overhead door rail just pushed the door panel loose, Prius is one tough nut.

    I put a bracket on each end and it doesn't show at all with the hatch closed. Thanks for the attach.

    I'd like to thank "ualdriver" for this post.(Thank you!) The 2012 Prius I purchased about a month ago had a high mount brakelight that wasn't working. I could only get 1 screw lose from the outside of the lens and after reading this I figured I could get the area opened and spray the screw from the thread side. I was wrong; but I did find the light was unplugged. Now the light works perfectly. I'm still not sure why someone would leave it unplugged.. oh well.

    When you see that the metal around a screw hole is deformed (up lifted), I use an auto body tool kit from harbor freight tools ($36.99}, to straighten the metal. Using hammer and dollies, I also add something on the inside of the hole to expand the contact area, which decreases the pressure against the metal from the head.
    I also do it on the oil pans, valve covers, etc. At times there isn't enough space for a fender washer I will cut heavy plastic to use.

    Thanks for that! We took our '14 in to the body shop for repairs on the right front fender and somehow the spoiler seemed to have grown something in the middle of it. Looks like it was overheated during the accelerated drying process. This will need to be replaced at some time.
