I was wondering if someone could explain the graphic screen grab of the charger. My confusion is with the power and the energy usage. All i know is when the charge session is over I have 36.6 EV miles. Thanks for any help. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Not sure what's confusing you. Power is how fast the electricity passes through the meter (kW). It's like gallons per hour in plumbing. Energy is how much electricity passes through (kWh). That's like gallons in plumbing. If you'd used 3.5 kW continuously for one hour, it would have been 3.5 kWh. But you used 3.5 kW for 40 minutes. That's 2/3 of 3.5 kWh, which comes to 2-1/3 kWh, or 2.32 as it says on the screen shot. Why it says 45 minutes with 2.61 kWh below that, I have no idea since I don't have a Charge Point.
I have a ChargePoint EVSE and the information you see in the box to the right of your graph is as follows: Power = the electrical power being passed to the vehicle. This data point is point in time. Energy = is the energy transmitted relative to time. This data point is cumulative. Duration = the time elapsed for the charging session. This data point is cumulative. The information at the bottom is the duration of the charging session (45 minutes) and the quantity of energy delivered (2.61 kWh). This ties out because the power delivered for this session (3.5 kw) for 45 mins is approximately 2.625 kWh.
