I seem to recall there was another thread recently (in the last several months, maybe) where the 2-ness of ss2 was brought up, and ss2 was somewhat adamant that the change from the original ss resulted from something other than a ban. I wasn't involved, so I don't know one way or the other. I do remember some posts by the original ss, and can vouch for the resemblance.

I believe the bot infestation of late March 2018 is the claim:whistle:.

But I’m also not one of the ones who can confirm the reason;).

I just know ignoring is bliss(y).

You can still find the posts of SS#1 by putting 'Sam Spade' into the 'Posted by Member:' field of the Search feature. But that name no longer appears in the auto-suggestion choices, only SS#2 appears. This absence normally suggests that the now-missing name has been banned. There might be other reasons for names to similarly disappear from the auto-complete choices, but I don't know them.
He has repeated that claim multiple times. I have no means to verify, and moderators have no need or reason to comment either way. Sort of like private HR issues at work.

If this were an Encyclopedia Brown mystery, it would have been the tell-tale slip-up when you said "SS#1".

WOW. Maybe I should be flattered that so many of you Einsteins are obsessed with me. :ROFLMAO:

I am still here. I will continue to express opinions that might rub some people the wrong way.
    Get over it.

At the time my previous user was "damaged", I pleaded for an explanation......and got none.

Believe whatever you want but if it was a BAN, why would I be allowed to continue with a different "name" ??
(No, please don't answer that. This bashing has gone on too long now. It accomplishes NOTHING useful.)

Just like others that were previously banned and came back under new names, one could be given a bit of grace as long as the new handle was better behaved. When ProximalSuns was banned and came back under a new handle, he lasted a while before being banned again. After that, 3rd / 4th / 5th handles were dispatched quite quickly.

    See also Troy Heagy's history.

Since moderators tend to act like HR personnel, keeping most disciplinary actions non-public, they leave an information vacuum so that we can believe whatever we want, without fear of being contradicted.

Yes but that does not apply to the TARGET of the "discipline" too.

Why not? They can if they so choose. Silent undisclosed discipline is part of the 'make miserable' functions of some forum moderation systems, which has been discussed here several times. Especially during and after some coordinated attacks by hostile members of certain other forums.

You stick to your story, we'll cling to our unconfirmed suspicions.

Landspeed was right about 7 and 9. Block 7 was moved to the number 2 position, and block 9 to the number 3 block position so I could access them easier if they decided to go. I've got a "Battery Block 2 becomes weak" a few days ago. Going to continue to drive a few weeks then switch out Block 2 and maybe Block 3 with the same method as last time. I used my switch to reset the code and it has not came back yet. The car sit over the weekend and the batteries got low. Cars been driving well. Going to contine to spot replace for awhile. If the car makes it another 6 months as well as it has I may upgrade the pack to a 2k1, this little car has fight left in it it seems New Prius Battery Kit (GEN2, 2004-2009) - New Prius Batteries LLC . Will continue to document things as time goes on. Hopefully Sam Spade 2 doesnt show up

It is interesting that the voltages of block 2 are higher - I guess this was taken during charging (or after a charge) - due to the reduced capacity. Block 3 is the second highest voltage but will probably last a lot longer.

If you keep the old blocks it would be interesting to try to refurbish them, maybe try adding electrolyte etc. My battery is worn (it seems to have maybe 50% capacity from my experiments), but not yet at the stage where I have an excuse to start ripping it apart!

Good work in fixing things and keeping your car going :)

Thanks yeah. It was while it was charging. I've noticed I can see the weak ones during discharge in Techstream, but they really stand out while the vehicle is charging. Low volts during discharge and higher voltages during charge seem to be the signs. Thanks for the encouraging words.

TechStream is mandatory for advanced level repairs. I don’t have tech stream but I am reverse engineering the machine code in the computers/ECUs. I recorded some live data today (obd2 dongle and phone screen recording is awesome); a ‘toy’ obd2 dongle will not give the error codes that we need here on priuschat but the 1.5 hour video I made of live data helped me understand a lot about the gen 2 running whatever software updates my car has (I changed oil 60,000 kms ago and 100,000kms ago the Toyota output was ‘owner to maintain vehicle’ - because of error codes from the one previous owner before I bought my car.

Keep on rolling, please do regular oil changes, as my understanding is that the HVbattery fails first but can be easily repaired or bypassed (sort of).

I replaced another pair of modules yesterday and rebalanced the pack. Forgot to take pictures while I was in the pack but everything looked good. Buss bars already working on some new corrosion. I think since I scrubbed and clean them it opened the metal up for more corrosion. I could see it valuable to replace them if someone planned to do several modules. I no longer have the ""Battery Block 2 becomes weak" error and the car is running correctly again. We will see how long I make it until I lose another Mod.

My records manual and the 2 bad modules removed.

Wish you could provide a pic of the corrosion.
How long was it since you cleaned them up before? Just trying to get an idea of how long before corrosion shows back up.

3 months. The corrosion is outside the plates not between the connections, but it doesn’t look pretty like it did. Pretty aggressive corrosion but not a game changer. Forgot to take pictures because I was in a hurry on this swap.

5/9/20 Stopping in to update. I've hit 10,000 miles on the 6 modules swap with no rebalance. Still driving with no errors.

Sorry J I dont have pictures. I basically ran a wire from the ground post of the car battery up to a marine battery switch in the glove compartment. Behind that switch I put a large self tap ground screw into the body material and grounded the wire. When the switch is turned the negative voltage from car battery is allowed to reach body and ground vehicle. Hope this helps
