What jumps out at you? So much information in this gentleman's short 3 min video. My focus was on the engine temperature. This video confirms the engine did not turn on. Entire trip was in EV mode.
At the 1:40 mark of the video the % EV remaining = 49 at 1:45 mark the % EV remaining is 42 26 miles EV at those speeds is impressive. Thanks John and Ray.
Is this @john1701a 's video? What jumps out from the video is how "flat" the terrain looks to be. I would be interested to see the elevation profile of this rout.
Yup, that's mine. And you know, I live in farm country. It's extremely flat... with the exception of that downhill into the Mississippi river valley when approaching St. Paul.
Yeah, I thought that scenery looked familiar. I spent some times in northwest corner of your state. The region was once a lake bed of prehistoric Lake Agassiz. That was the only place I have ever lived where I can see the flat horizon like that. You must get much better EV range because of the flat terrain.
They keep changing. In fact, that latest video is already a disappointment compared to what I just filmed this morning. I enjoy the challenge of achieving higher and higher quality. My experiment today was to adjust the GoPro 7 settings for dashboard capture using ProTune options. That worked great. I was able to fix the washout, resulting in a much more crisp image while retaining color. Hope is to replace the window cam with a GoPro 8. Currently, it is a Sony ActionCam. The quality of the 4K capture for that should go up, a little better stabilization and brightness/contrast. As for the aftermarket data, that comes from the Hybrid Assistant app. I just capture the phone's screen, then edit it into the composite video afterward.
I changed up my routine a bit 2 days ago. The beginning of the trip was typical, but changed my normal rounte at the 8 mile mark (like Detroits 8 Mile Rd Eight Mile Road | Detroit Historical Society) After 9,5 miles I went another 5 miles, nothing special, just a few pics in groups start 1 - 4 0 mile middle 5 - 7 9.5 mile end 8 - 13 15.3 mile And the GOM tipped up from 37 to 37.2
John, the videos are great. One question: when the battery runs out and goes into hv mode ... if you go lightly after that, how much longer can you charge the battery? What the Hybrid Assistant shows you: 10-9-8 % ? Sorry for my English, I'm writing about Hungary. The prius plug-in is still one month away.
Assuming you are referring to the lowest draw, I believe that's 8%. But ever going that low would be rare. The engine does a good job of handling recharge.
Thank you very much for your reply. Obviously, this is only interesting if you miss a few miles to get home and the charger. In the long run, over 40 miles, I also prefer the charging mode - ev mode pair. Charging mode - at high loads, for example on highways ev mode - in the city and at low load.
