Lack of new Postings i.e. Owner reviews of Gen 4 specifically 2019+

    Definitely for the worse. This is about as aero as a rack can get. I live and commute in suburbia, so while some commutes are 85 MPH or more for some sections, most commuting is up to 50 MPH.

    Were I a highway traveler more often, I probably wouldn't have gone this route. I was thinking more of the long-term item-movement things a rack could give me, such as a roof cage / basket for things that I don't want, or can't fit, into the car. Gasoline-can refills come to mind. I don't want a plastic gas can inside the car with me.

    Viewing it in person, and walking back toward it this evening, one can see the really aero front-end pointing toward them, but it just doesn't photograph well enough to show what it looks like in person.

    Good comparison - at least, I think it's a good comparison... I went blind while squinting at the postage-stamp-sized matchbox cars. :)

    So I just looked it up, the 2016 Prius has a Cd of .24

    Logically - if logic comes into play - Gen 5 will have .23?

    And, with about 10-12% improvement if fuel economy with each Gen, by Gen 12, it will use almost ZERO fuel.

    There are one or two 2019 Mercedes with .22 Cd, so I wouldn't count on Gen5 only having .23

    I’m a new UK owner of a 2019 Prius excel. I chose it as a company car when my company opened up to all manufacturers after years of Vauxhall’s only. I tested a Prius back in March (2018 model). With the updated model being released it delayed ordering by around 6 weeks until they were available again. There are a few bits I like about the 2019 model- heated seat buttons are in s better position and the sat nav guidance in the HUD is very useful. I’m genuinely impressed with the Prius as it’s near perfect for me. Fuel efficiency has amazed me. The first week I spent in eco mode and was getting 70-75 mpg whilst covering 500 miles. After a conversation with a guy at work who’s got a Corolla I tried normal mode the second week- amazingly fuel efficiency rose to 80-85 mpg whilst covering 600 miles. Ok these are computer readings so actual calculated values may be a little lower (I’ve got the trip set for the latest fuel tank so hopefully get it calculated this time). What I’ve found is if I just try to drive normally rather than tried to eco drive I get a better return. The weather has been warm (15-20C) so that probably helped.

    It’s been nice filling up the tank and only spending £30-40 instead of £80 for a full tank on my previous Vauxhall insignia. Getting 50-60% better mpg I’d great too (from 50mpg diesel to 70-80mpg Prius). My wallet will be much happier as petrol costs are £1.22-1.26 a litre within a 30 mile radius. Diesel was close to £1.30 with the insignia so a slight saving there too.

    Before it arrived I was worried that I should have gone with the plug in Prius but after returning 70-80mpg in the first two weeks it has set my mind at ease. The larger boot is the perfect size for getting my work gear in too. The smaller plug in Prius boot would have posed issues work wise for me as it would be very small.

    Overall very pleased with the Prius 2019. There are some minor issues (slightly slower acceleration up a slip road, low ground clearance and slightly dodgy infotainment software) but I can live with those as the positives far overweight them. Storage for the driver is good. I love the centre arm rest bin. I was amazed when my 9 inch iPad fitted in there today and still room for other items too!

    It’s the relaxing drive that I’ve liked the most. I can’t recall two weeks where I’ve not got annoyed with another driver. Now I just go with the follow and watch the mpg gauge amaze me :)

    I’ve still got many features to work out how to use, every day I find a new one! I’ve not tried the auto parking feature yet, that’s one for a few weeks time. Adaptive cruise control is a nice festurr but I’ve found I’m happier doing it myself as 1, its more fuel efficient and 2, without needing to change gears it’s much easier to drive in heavy traffic.

    I’ve not seen another 2019 prius model on UK roads yet. There aren’t many Prius in the UK anyway, for some unknown reason is brits don’t seem to like them that well, well unless you’re a taxi/Uber driver! It’s quite likely most who dislike them probably haven’t ever driven one. I know many in my company were put off buying a Prius as ‘it’s for taxi drivers’ and they went with corollas instead. I’m happy I decided to go with the Prius over the corolla or Kia Niro.

    The base model starts at £24,250. The price probably does put people off. If it wasn’t for it being a company car lease I wouldn’t have bought one myself, especially not the model I’ve gone with (list price £29k because I also added the detachable tow bar as an extra).

    Maybe they could take a hiatus for one gen, spend more on dash control ergonomics, recovery of lost storage capacity, toning down the styling, collision repair costs, that sort of thing.

    Wow... Didn't the 2009/2010 model start at £17,000 and the top T-Spirit was £21,000? I guess there's more equipment now.

    The US prices have gone up too (US$21,000 at the launch of the 2010 Prius. Now it's US$24,000).

    Canadian prices have held steady. Cdn$27,000 in 2010 for the base model (top was $36.5k). Now, it's Cdn$27,000, top is $33k (with more equipment but minus the solar roof)

    I’ve thought about this, and came to the conclusion the Toyota made this car so nearly perfect - aside from the strange exterior styling - that’s there’s not much to talk about.
