Prius Prime 2020 battery question Does the battery stay for days or even weeks without losing strength if the car is parked and not used
To preserve the lifespan of the battery, it's best not to keep it fully charged for an extended period of time.
There is no discernible difference. BUT it is bad for the battery to leave it fully charged for an extended period of time. IIRC, if it is to be stored for a while, then store it with about 50% (not sure about the exact recommended %) capacity.
Yes, you can, but I would check/drive it on occasion to ensure nothing goes wrong. While I can understand the logic, if you're a city dweller to likes to get out of town on occasion, a hybrid is as good as any vehicle. HOWEVER, do make sure to the run the car regularly (once a week is preferable). I'm pretty certain I killed the hybrid battery on my previous car (a honda civic hybrid) by running down the battery after a drive then letting it sit unused for 2 months.
First I should mention I was thinking about the 2020 prius prime or the RAV4 2019 or 2020 in a couple of months I've had interest in the Tesla but after knowing they lose 2 miles an hour of battery when sitting I don't that's for me I usually park when I go into the city for a week and leave my car for that long without moving it so now i just wanted to get an idea about how that battery would work for me on the prime car
i have heard that, but you would think there would be an independent test. i haven't heard any complaints from owners here.
prius runs the electrical system from the 12v battery when the car is off. there is no connection to the hybrid battery. the complaint here is 12v drain, so you need a battery minder if you're gonna let it sit. you can also shut down skas, which is helpful.
As for not driving a Prime for a while, the manual says to use up the EV range and leave it uncharged when not driving for extended periods. It does not give any indication of how long a time would qualify for that precaution. The hybrid battery will not drain to any noticeable degree, because as @bisco said, the HV battery is completely disconnected from the car when it's not in READY mode.
not something you have to worry about with a tesla, and even after a month, what are you down to, 250 miles of range?
