I designed my 3D printer a few years ago with two major constraints on its size- it had to fit through doorways and it had to fit in the back of my 2007 Prius. I have a 2019 Limited now and didn't know if the cargo dimensions would allow the printer to fit until Friday. It fits and the hatch closes! I was able to fit a 65in TV in my 2017, but it is less space than the gen 3. I was not able to fit my bike in the hatch after about an hour of trying without taking the front wheel off, but I could easily fit it in my gen 3. It has a few inches less height.
True for things like that. But for most purposes, extra "acreage" is more useful - like for kid's schoolbags, shopping bags, you don't generally want to toss them on top of each other.
