Hello all, well I have prius 2011 with 103k miles on it. I had replaced the water coolant pump assembly about 40 days ago with the thermostat, but now the pump failed again with the code P261B Coolant Pump B control malfunction what can be the real issue as my Prius 2011 water pump fails so frequently as i have replaced 3 water pumps in just 14 months which is terrible. Today morning it gave error code p0172 the dealer told me to have maintenance of the car like cleaning if the throttle body, spark plugs, injectors, fuel pump and other related stuff, it was done with success, but when I started the car it gave a check engine light with a warning light and with the code p261b and the dealer told me that the pump failed, so needs replacement. I mean how is this possible as I replaced it 40 days ago. I am in trouble suggestions and expert opinion needed badly Thanks
Do you have a Prius or a Prius C? I have a feeling you have a regular Prius because the "C" didn't start hitting the roads until 2012.
What water pump are you replacing the original with? An Aisin or something else? Can you hear the pump runnning? Does coolant warm up and can you feel it circulating through the hoses? Any damage to the wiring harness?
