Swapping in a Gen 4 Prius' 2ZR Engine into the Prius v

    A picture of the repinned plug would be helpful, I'm having a less severe misfire issue(no codes, just a part throttle surge) and I think that might be my problem. Thanks

    Had time to sleep on your 3190 code and think I found your problem. I had to reuse my gen3 throttle body on the gen4 intake so I'm thinking the pin locations changed on that too. Try your old throttle body rotated 180° and if that works perhaps another test drive of a gen4 is in order. Good luck. Edit, Ok re-read your posts see that you have tried the old throttle body on the new intake manifold. Maybe a crack in the intake where map sensor was broken off? Still thinking...

    Question for all the 16 engine swaps. What spark plugs are you guys using ? The plugs for 2016 or the 2010?

    Had a new set of gen3 plugs and with 94,000 miles on the gen4 engine, it was time for a change. I compared the plugs and the tips looked like the only difference( should have taken pictures). Debated, cheap me won out and I installed the gen3 plugs. Runs smooth with them but still thinking about upgrading and seeing if it makes a difference, MPG wise.

    I'm using the plugs that came with 2016 engine. Sometimes when the ice kicks on I can feel the idle drop a bit. Causes a slight shake. Not every time just every so often. I wish I would have taken off my old plugs and coils from old motor. I gave that bad boy away to San Jose State university engineer program, they wanted to use for some kind of demonstration. Guy loaded into the back of his Subaru hatchback. They do have different part numbers on the spark plugs. I asked the parts guy at Toyota, he says the 2016 plugs are more thin according to the photo.No pending codes. No hesitation and no stumbling when I hammer down.

    I left the plugs alone. My engines were essentially new. I would use the spark plug for the year of the engine they're going in.

    I pulled the plugs on the 16 motor. They had FC16HR-C9 installed which are gapped at .035. The spark plugs for a 2010 Prius calls for plugs gapped at .043. I ended up buying 9091901275 toyota part number. I'll slap them in and see if my low idle goes away. If not i'll put the 16 plugs back in and save the new ones for the V when it hits 120k. I highly recommend using toyota's new parts website. I did a local pick up at 9.80$ each vs 19.99 when I called in to ask how much.

    I swapped the plugs. I drove around fifty miles with the AC blowing max. I was trying to drain battery to make ICE turn on more frequently. I was freezing! Two things I noticed before. Ice doesn't seem to be running as much. The idle more smooth. Doesn't feel like I have a huge cam in there anymore. My gas mileage is getting better. But I need to drive it more. I'd say another 300 miles. Here is a picture of the plugs I took out with roughly 24k on them. I was going to clean MAF and MAP sensors. But I decided to compare how it ran with just changing the plugs.

    Those are 3rd gen plugs? Denso SC20HR11, or SC16HR11 (the slightly hotter plug)? I think the 20's.

    I went and tried to buy gen 4 plugs and they were incorrect. I put the gen 3 plugs back in it and it works fine. I am struggling with getting this thing burped on coolant. Man what a hassle. I did get it wrapped, 13 bumper cover on, wheels on, and lowered at the same time. prius.jpg

    Sweet ride, good lookin wheels. Try Ragingfit's trick of raising the coolant reservoir. That worked wonders for me. I used a bungee cord and long funnel.

    This thing is killing me. I have something wrong in my coolant hose routing. It gets warm and starts popping and making weird noises inside the radiator. Its weird.

    All of the hoses are warm?

    Does the pump sound normal?
