Hello all you fellow Prime owners. My 2017 Prius Prime Advanced started Honking while Charging last night. Never did this before. The OEM Charger was plugged into a GFCI Outlet. It was charging from it being fully depleted, and is back to 35 miles. Anyone have this happen before, and was it from the GFCI outlet? Thank you In Advance!
By "Honking", you mean the horn was sounding? Did it stop on it's own or you had to stop it? If you had to stop it, how did you stop it?
I used the Key FOB to stop the honking. The Lights were blinking like it was the alarm, but as I stated, it was in the garage.
That sure sound like false alarm to me. I think the charging has nothing to do with it. Something must have triggered the security alarm (panic mode), though I have no idea what.
35 miles is not hard to accomplish. My GOM has been showing over 40 miles (indicated) and over 40 miles (actual) EV range on a full charge for several weeks now.
While it's so hot here, I usually show a predicted 33-34 miles. When our weather eventually cools back down (Please God! Let it finally cool back down. ), it will usually show 35-38 miles.
I am rally confused now. I get about 22 to 24 miles indicated (24 at home, 22 at a free charge Point charger). Nothing near the 30 - 40 shown here. Are we talking about the same thing?
it's all based on your driving history. you can't compare to others like mpg, it depend on how you accelerate, speed, hills, climate and etc.
I have a 2020 Prime Limited that I bought in August. Living and driving in the West Philly suburbs. After the first few charges when the GOM was low, I am now seeing an EV range of 33 to 34 miles. This has been a pretty accurate prediction for me. I usually drive with the AC off, windows open. Not many expressway miles. Soft acceleration but I keep up with traffic and speed limits. And the GOM has been rising still after each charge. But nowhere near 40 miles for me. Of course Fall and eventually Winter is coming to Eastern PA...
If you drive like the accelerator and brake pedals are made of redhot bricks and the A/C-Heating is verboten, its doable.
I guess we ARE talking about two different things. I though we were talking about INDICATED range. Actual range depends. On a frequent 20.1 mile route from about sea level to 1500 feet on a narrow steep mountain two lane I run out of electricity just before I get there, going home i have 12 mile of range left.
I'm talking about indicated range. Actual range is harder to measure since, if I'm going beyond range, I'll probably switch to HV mode before range depletion. If I'm not going beyond range, then I don't really know how far I could have gone. It's very rare that I'll start out in EV and stay in EV till it runs out. I like to use HV for the higher speed portions and EV for the lower speeds. As for driving styles, I kind of have to go with the traffic when there is traffic. If no traffic, I mostly follow the advice of the HSI. Unlike most people on our roads, I am aware that there are positions for the throttle between off and WOT. Intelligent braking is probably the biggest factor. Last second braking is like throwing money out the window.
I'm talking about both. As I understand it, the GOM's indicated range is based on your historical actual range (or more specifically your estimated mi/kWh). So, if you're regularly getting 30-40 mi in actual range, it'll translate into the indicated range being in 30-40 mi territory.
