Does anyone know why my car is squealing when accelerating after replacing the water pump, also it's

    driving like I have a flat but I don't have a flat. What could be the cause
    I took the wheel off yesterday to find out where the coolant leak was coming from, should I replace the pulley?

    There is no pulley for a water pump on a Gen3 ;).

    The noise has to be coming from somewhere else:cool:.

    As for the driving, is a caliper stuck? What is the brake pad depth?

    How did we get from the water pump to a flat (tire) ??
    And since when does a flat tire make a squealing noise ??

    I would think that someone who has just changed the water pump would know if it is belt driven or not.

    Something really strange about this post.

    I was told there's a crankshaft pulley. I don't have a flat tire, that's just what it sounds and feels like when I drive. (Only after replacing the water pump/ taking my wheel off prior to doing the water pump.) I already had a light squeal sound happening before removing my wheel or doing the water pump. The squeal and flat tire sound I'm sure have nothing to do with each other but who knows.

    Obviously a flat tire doesn't make a squeal. My mistake for being unclear. I know there are no belts, I'm asking about the crankshaft pulley.

    There is a crankshaft pulley, but there is no belt around it on the Gen 3. The pulley is part of the harmonic balancer used for multiple applications; belt driven accessories being one of them; but NOT on the Prius.

    The noise could be coming from the brakes or CV joints or shafts.. I'm not there to listen to it. So, I can't be sure.

    A portion of the fender liner has to be removed in order to access the water pump. A loose fender liner will cause a flapping sound that is similar to a flat tire.

    Are you sure you re-secured the fender liner properly? Any missing or loose clips?

    Could be a bent dust shield rubbing on the rotor too

    I am surprised no one mentioned a bad wheel bearing. Check me, but I think the rear wheels have them. If the sound changes or disappears when the weight shifts to the side, driving on a ramp for example, that would be a confirmation. Listen for the change on both left and right-hand curves.

    Oh yea! You're probably right! It does seem to be worse when going up ramps and/or turning right. I replaced the front driver side wheel bearing a while ago so its probably the front passenger?
