So I just got this Prius 170k miles, battery has been replaced. Well on the way home I started getting a buzzing noise. It's on and off at all times even when turned off for about an hour. Any ideas?
It is the inventer pump. It is normal noise which I hear for 14 years on my Prius. Actually, if I don’t hear it I would start to worry now.
Sounds like the brake actuator. Not good running all the time. It's not going to last. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
congrats and welcome! probably the brake accumulator, which you'll hear when you open the drivers door or step on the brake. if the frequency keeps increasing, that could be impending failure. but listening to the video, i've never heard that sound, i wouldn't describe it as buzzing
Thank you for the replies! After quite a bit of looking around and with the help of a buddy, we replaced the brake accumulator. Went to reset all the warning lights pretty much lit up like a Christmas tree. Even the fuel isn't reading correctly. Says flashing in E when it has almost a full tank. Followed instructions on how to reset them and it's not working. So with a jumper pin in fourth from the left(top) and fourth from the right (bottom) I push brakes turn on, and press brakes 8 times within 5s (meanwhile the diagnostic mode comes up on the display). Then hold brake and turn off. Remove pin, and restart like normal. Nothing happens when I do this. Tried about 7 or 8 times. Oh God. I hope I didn't mess anything up replacing the brake accumulator. I marked everything during the replacement to not F anything up and it was very straightforward. Any thoughts?
Just bought techstream. But before doing anything on it I figured I missed something.. opened up the inverter and everything was perfect. Went to put the service plug back in and realized that my dumb nice person self hadn't locked the plug in previously. (The slide down part). Reset the warning lights now I'm about to bleed the brakes. I can't believe I did that.
