Just got an email saying Entune 3.0 is changing its name to Connected Services. Do we have to do anything or is this just Entune going into the witness protection program?
The latter, I think. Perhaps Toyota will keep using the brand for some minor thing, like the Standard service station in Las Vegas that Chevron operates to protect their rights to the Standard Oil name. toyota.com/entune now redirects to toyota.com/audio-multimedia, and “Entune” has started to disappear from sales brochures: it doesn’t appear anywhere in the one for the 2020 Prius Prime (PDF), for example.
I got the same email and I have to wonder just why. I have a 2017 with Entune 2.0, and they don't mention that.
Here's an image of mine for those that didn't get it. It says at the bottom you only get it if you are an Entune equipped vehicle owner.
2017 Advanced owner here... I hope I don't lose my ability to turn on the AC from my phone... that's part of the reason I got it.
Weird, but when I looked at my myentunes.com account there is no expiration for the Remote Services just for Safety Connect services. Hmmm if that is free, that means the trade-in value on my Prime just went up. My wife just renewed her Remote Services for her Enform Remote on her NX300h. iPad ? Pro
I like your optimism, but someone has to pay for the cell service to the car... I just hope it's Toyota and not subcontracted to an Entune company.
Or they may be changing it over to Connection Services and the change over time frame overlaps the first Advanced Prime buyers expiration. Someone on here said 1 out of every 5 Primes is the Advanced model, so yeah the odds of continuing that service for part of 60K Prime (or less than 12,000) buyers is a little remote. iPad ? Pro
I just logged in to myentune.com, and there has been no change to it, and I have not received any e-mail on this topic. It shows an expiry date in 2020, which is three years after I bought the car. Is the change really just renaming Entune 3.0, and not effecting Entune 2.0 users (pre-2020 models)? Entune 2.0 includes both the PiP Advanced 2012-1015 and the Prime Advanced 2016-2019.
Yes, it's just Corporate Speak. Just rebranding the name and to dump the less than favorable "Entune" moniker.
Entune is officially dead, which is not a bad thing as it mostly sucked in my opinion. The switch to "Connected Services" is to separate the Location and Maintenance services (Road Side Assistant, Stolen Vehicle Locator, etc) from the multimedia and app services as Toyota follows other carmakers into Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Slowly but surely the entire multimedia services still in Entunes will be sunset out, we're already seeing this side of Entunes not being serviced, apps being removed, etc. Not sure about remote services like turning the AC as CarPlay and Android Auto don't offer that on itself but maybe an app will do Of course the New Prius Prime comes with CArPlay and Auto. This is part of Toyota's strategy This leave us with old Toyota cars not being scheduled to be retrofitted into Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in a really bad position, stuck with a dying system that will soon cease to function and no plan B. I'm personally pissed and surprised there are not more of us up in arms about this, we should demand Toyota to retrofit ALL its Entune equipped cars with CarPlay or Auto, it is not OK to make a decision like this and leave owners in limbo
Just looked @ the 2020 Prius Prime Advanced w/ CarPlay specs: The center dashboard screen is EXACTLY the same as the 2018 and 2019 models, so it shouldn't be a problem for Toyota to just do a software update and add CarPlay. It should be just a licencing issue with Apple I take
Entune 2 is still Entune. But it's a dead product. It sucked to begin with anyway. It's sad that an otherwise wonderful vehicle had to be saddled with a POS like Entune.
