As the title said... I did Usually my routine going back home first thing is to plug it in. For some reason I had something to do yesterday after getting out of my Prime and then really forgot about it. So this morning going to work, basic routine is to un-plug and got me worry for a bit It is a PHEV so what the heck, let's try hybrid mode for a day.. never used it like that since I got it. Going to work has some downhill so going home some uphill. Today's Result: 42km/26miles (one way) and got 3L/100km or 78mpg I usually flip EV/HV manually and I get 1.5L/100km or 157mpg when I have 100% every morning. I am very impressed with my Prime indeed
Some level-2 chargers (the Wi-Fi connected type) will allow you to set a reminder. With my JuiceBox Pro, I have it set to send a notify at 11 in the evening if it detects the plug isn't connected to anything at that time. Here's the setting...
I don't have a L2 because my province killed the cap and trade so no incentives So far I am doing ok with L1 because my Prime is a drive to work car. I drive my wife's Lexus after work and weekend But I will spank myself from now on if I forget to plug ever again when I get home
Yeah, I've done that. I do fair bit of HV drive anyway, and since our electricity rate is higher than gas price, I am not so worried about forgetting to plug in. On a day I forget to plug in and I have to do 100% HV drive, I save a bit.
Our electric is flat rate ~20cents/kWh, but I usually plug in the car after I come home from the work and have scheduled to be charged over night, so it's ready by the morning. It is rare I use the car after I come home from the work but in rare occasion, we may use the car in the evening and forget to plug in. Still no big deal for a PHEV.
I don't even dream about such numbers... Maybe there's a benefit to purposely driving one day a week in hybrid mode, good for the engine, and everything traditional.
No but I did have a brain fart and scheduled the next charge at 4am instead of 4pm so when I went out in the afternoon, it was in HV mode. Achieved 4.5L/100km going to my destination and 2.8L/100km coming back (including a bit of of CHG mode on the very short highway stint that allowed just enough range to get home on EV after I exited the highway).
Just an update of my return home info: 3.4L/100km - 69mpg. So averaging 3.2L/100km - 73mpg. I am still impress of my Prime and proved Prime hybrid mode is much better than regular Prius and cheaper with rebates
I don't think I've forgotten yet. But I have deliberately left it unplugged and then had a change of plans.
I have forgotten . Sometimes life gets on the mind as you leave the car for the night and you walk out the next morning and find the situation. Still gets better mpg than most cars on the road. So there is a silver lining .
I was out of town for a week and had unplugged the EVSE from the wall outlet. My wife plugged the car in to charge the night before I came home, in preparation for the scheduled charge the next morning. Needless to say, the car didn't charge, because she didn't note that the EVSE was unplugged from the wall outlet.
Same here, except I will deliberately leave it unplugged for overnight thunderstorms. Would rather not risk cooking my Prime from a lightening strike.
