    Hi Pilot...good read. I concur that it's well worth the upgrade for the reasons you mention and the price range it's at. I am benefiting from both increase in mpg and power, although my driving is a bit more conservative as i'm always aware of how much pressure i'm putting on the pedal. Environment conditions will always play a role but the RB really helps compensate for the drawbacks that the weather brings to us. (y)

    hey there guys. Just going through my log sheets on Fuelly and saw this chart. Just thought to share it with yas. The RB was installed around mid May of this year. Graph line continues to rise. I already know how low it was before the RB by the graph line from Jan-Mar, which are typically the most brutal winter climates for us in the NE. I'll graph it out again at end of December to get a feel for how the cooler weather messes with my mpg with the RB installed. (y)

    My m'spg go up 7-10 mpg when I drive 5mph slower...

    Amazingly enough, if I drive my 2007 without a worry in the world, I sit around 44-46mpg for a tank. If I'm more careful and limit myself to 64ish on the highway when going to work, suddenly I'm at 52-54.............if I let the engine warm up before I leave, I'm 54-56ish..crazy stuff.......if I'm really feelin' it, I can drive on battery alone for the last 1.3 miles on the way to work and the last 1.1 miles on the way home. That really makes it even better...

    Send me a RB, I'll install it in my Gen 2 and give independent 3rd party feedback. I'll set up a dash cam to record a before and after showing mph, outside temp and mpg displays. Could probably even get Techstream recordings of air/fuel consumption/timing/engine rpm etc. That would be a lot cheaper than 100k.....

    heck, I'll even do the drive path at 2 in the morning to eliminate the possibility of traffic causing problems.

    Any quality company would do the research and testing, which would make the item more valuable.
    They would be able to back up their claims. Not just random people.

    I have no dog in this fight and have no interest in purchasing this item. What I can do, is provide a 3rd person independant test using fixed, known routes, with a bunch of info being recorded via techstream and any other appropriate apps to monitor fuel consumption/mpg, mph etc.

    The funny thing is that ANY of you who have it could also offer the same, but all we have so far is Buttmeter reports.................

    Hell, I would even go so far as to test my 188k mile one, then buy a new, oem one to install and test, and then the RB so all the results could be evaluated. That's where the buck stops. Facts...not buttmeters and "I thinks" and "I feels" and "In my opinions"

    The problem is, from what I can gather, there is no REAL testing. Just claims. And a few people claim there is
    an improvement, and there may be. But most people will believe what they read or are told with out open thought.
    And as other people have pointed out, WHERE is the testing to back up the claims? There isn't any. At least
    none that anyone has seen.
    By there own admission, this device was NOT tested on the Prius. The Prius is NOT a sports car.
    It is produced as a low gasoline using car. If you drive it as such, you'll get many miles per gallon.
    It is very easy to work on and is very reliable. It does has it problems, just like any other car. No more, and probably less.
    Some of the problems seem to be from a lot mileage. Any car will have parts failure with a lot of miles.
    So until this product invests some money to prove their claims, it will just be another gimmick.
    You know, I do have this little fan you put in the intake that swirls the air around and will improve fuel mileage and horsepower! :)

    Thank you for the information. Good to know that the power band is working out for you! Sorry I've been a bit absent from here for the last week, the business trip was a big one to undertake plus My six years old split her chin yesterday, I had to take her to the clinic for a quicky 4 stitch. At first I was going to do it but after we got there I just couldn't. Four splits of lidocaine later I let the locum physician stitch her up.
    That was a real experience! They did say never operate on family members in school.

    Coming back to the Red Bullet, I think the topic has become very interesting, very highly focused on fuel economy. This is a bit unexpected to see since most hybrid discussion has not been regarding its capability to out drive most ICE vehicle for economy, let alone economy being its weakest link to be improved was ever on the table. In the contrary power was the biggest most say the hybrids lack. The Red Bullet past record has addressed the gains possible by real life drag and also on dyno runs on applicable vehicles doing pre and post Red Bullet installation, graph is available on this thread I believe.

    Some say they could improve the MPG by a factor of 5 miles just by changing the cruising speed and driving slower, I totally do not disagree that is doable and that it is totally sound, I've done it on conventional vehicles let alone on a 23km/L+ hybrid. So if one wants to slow down to save gas, I think it is there right to do so. This is thinking very green and economical. The only thing I hope... please move to the slower lane when you do, so not to slow down everyone behind you who can and want to get going a little bit faster.

    I'm really happy that the Red Bullet was able to help you gain responsiveness of your engine and also a more enjoyable driving experience on a regular basis.

    Maybe one should do a 901km challenge on the OEM solenoid for Prius C. Just a thought for members with the OEM solenoid to do. I would not like to take out my Red Bullet again, it was hard driving with the OEM solenoid once I had a taste of what the Red Bullet can do .

    In the meanwhile I will touch base with some friends in Germany about running fuel economy test for ICE engines and see what we can come up with.

    The business trip is going well, I'm close to the end of this lag. I'm not sick yet with travel flue or baby poo. So knock on wood! Travel plans and tickets are booked for north America late this month. Australia will be in early December for the summer Christmas! I hope to meet some Australian members in person when I'm there! It will be a real treat! Also visiting my baby sister which I hadn't seen in 6 years.

    Now that my travel has settled down a bit we will try to address the question at hand regarding economy.

    Thank you for the ultra fast shipping. Installation took all of 3-4 minutes. Noticed a throttle response difference right away. Just filled the tank so we will see what happens with fuel economy.

    Great to hear from you! I'm glad you received the Red Bullet in good time.
    The installation is really straight forward on the Gen 3. The satisfaction of a DIY job with such performance is what keeps us going.
    I've just touched down in Taiwan. Picking up supplies and heading to north America on Sunday! There was something new that caught my eye while I was picking up supplies in New Taipei city.
    They are producing custom hood cover hydraulic push roads that bolt on to existing nuts on the hood so you don't need to drill or cut anything to fit them. So your hood cover will just lift up on its own once you pull the latch just like those Mercedes and VW group vehicles.
