The OP asked a simple question and the thread turns into a p-ss-ng contest about who has the longest.

SeaDreamDLS, what you specifically asked is doable, safe and legal...assuming LEO can still see your rear license plate. ;)

The video for the hitch installation is completely useless...because the banner at the bottom pretty much obscures what is being shown.

To repeat, the written instructions for mine where fully adequate.

    True.
But when someone asks about the viability of using a "Class 3 Hitch"...the FACT that Toyota basically says the Prius is NOT designed to be used with a hitch...probably should be mentioned, even if some disagree.

I was trying to focus on a viable solution, by bypassing the hitch/towing debate, which always plays out the same...those that say it's OK, and those that say "Don't do it", by suggesting that the OP look at lighter and more potentially compact scooter options.
Especially if usage is just occasional. There are some really amazing folding, smaller, and lighter options, that you might even be able to use as simply as throwing it in the back.

Since I have some personal experience with knowing how challenging it can be to create transport options for people that need it, but how important it is to quality of life, I can really sympathize with the challenge.
I pretty much defaulted at the time to using the folding wheel chair, and physically pushing that chair through every entertainment and outing venue. It would of been nice to use an electric scooter or the BIG electric wheelchair my mother did have, but I had to be honest with myself and realize...with my Honda Fit at the time, I simply did not have the right tool to do that job.

On the positive side? Every weekend at least, it was a great physical work-out for myself. It really kept me in very good shape.

No doubt. I was just comparing the video to the one I used when installing a hitch from eTrailer.com on my RAV4. Much more comprehensive (along with the written instructions)...that's all...

It's nice to know what you're getting into before ordering the hitch, hence a good video is extremely helpful. I looked at a Class I hitch install video for my Prius on eTrailer and it just didn't look like it would be worth the effort (besides not needing a hitch on my Prius).

FWIW...Installing a hitch and harness on a GEN III Prius is very easy. ;)

    I own a four-wheel Drive mobility scooter.
It fits perfectly into my Gen 3 trunk.
    Back seats are unaffected....

Tongue weight is more for the vehicle load supporting than hitch capacity. Reason a class one hitch is only available for the Prius. As mentioned. Towing a small trailer maybe best option or add some sort of air suspension to handle extra weight it will be carrying
