I have a 2019 Prius Prime Advanced and I am having a heck of a time getting the homelink programmed. It has never been a problem in any other car including my 2010 and 2017 Prius'. For some reason this model has a whole different setup and I am not able to get it to program. I know my Genie garage door opener has rolling codes but the unit is not flashing (showing a static code). the Homelink webpage does not address the 2019 model and I have followed the programming on page 555 of the owners manual. Any suggestions?
The only way it has ever worked for me, is to get a ladder and press the learn button on the opener, go back down the ladder and press the left most button on the rearview mirror. This worked for both my Prime Advanced and the wife’s NX300h. I have a 3/4 HP Craftsman FWIW. I tried the remote way and the learn button on the wired remote garage opener, but that never works. iPad ? Pro
Yes, I had to do a similar thing. I cleared out the programming in the car, then used the learn button on the garage door opener itself. If you have a rolling code, you have to press the button in the Prius a few times until it learns it. YouTube will help. Homelink isn't brand specific. Pretty much any car from 2019 with it will have the same learning process.
Not to hijack a thread but now i havw to ask. What about those gates that open up to the community? Where my sister lives, there's a general gate everyone has to go through. Then there's her garage. Can you pair the garage opener to that outside gate?
probably not. Most of the gates I know are hard wired remote gates, like those that take credit cards, use buttons or take codes. Unless they give her a specific remote, in which case it’s probably hard coded, she can try another button with the remote. Like I said that almost never works. Unsupervised!
For the garage door opener, if the Toyota instructions don't work, go to the opener maker's web site. Those instructions will work. How do I program HomeLink® in my vehicle?
Never got HomeLink to work with my garage opener, neither in my 2009 Prius nor in the Prime. I think my unit may be too old.
Blauer, check the instructions on the web page of the opener maker. That has worked for me in several cases where the owner's manual instructions did not work. This assumes that the opener is built to work with Homelink. The web site will have that info.
OK, got the answer. Certain Genie model remotes (intellicode 1 and 2) mostly from 2013 models don't work with newer Homelink systems. After talking with Homelink and then Genie Customer service they both confirmed my remote's software would not detect the rolling code. I ended up buying a run of the mill genie remote from Home Depot. The programming worked just as planned and the homelink now works.
