Jack Points / Lift Points

    What's the advantage of using these 'adapters' vs. jacking it up at the circular jack points on the car with the lift?

    SAFETY! Especially when changing and rotating tires.

    Lifting one corner is much safer than lifting one end. This is important when working on brakes.

    Also, if you place jack stands in this area, you have full access to the center front area under the engine and the front suspension and axles. Toyota recommends the pinch weld area for "jack stands" or, as they call them "safety stands."

    I would NEVER get under the car when it is supported only by a jack on either the front or back centerline jacking point.

    The head of my jack stands have a slight lip on the sides, making a "U". Anyway, this shouldn't be a back and forth on who's safer.

    The OP wanted to know which jack to purchase. Hopefully, there's enough info here to guide the OP to something safe. Here is the take home message:

    1) The pinch weld jack adapters, whether they are home made or commercially available, are highly recommended to safely lift the car without mangling the pinch welds.

    2) The use of jack stands are required (or at least highly recommended) before going under the car.

    A point: when you lift one side of the car you should also support both front and back with jacks or stands. Chassius do not like to be supported only front or only rear as it imparts a bending momoment to the chassis that can actually bend the chassis. Chassisd are not all that rigid, especially in the sb class of vehicles. the support locations are the double circular cuts in te frame flages.
    And using a piece of wood cross the grain will be a good way to 'anchor' the jack or stand to the flange..

    Those double circular cuts in the frame rail flange clearly mark the location to lift at each corner. When you jack one side for more than 15 minutes you should support both front and rear of the car on that side so that the chassis does not 'bend or twist'. Yes, they will; its not a really outstandingly rigid chassis.
    And if you don't have that 'slot' lift point that anchors the jack by either side of the flange use a thick piece of wood ACROSS THE GRAIN TO ANCHOR THE FLANGE.

    Hello all,
    I've scoured the internet and have not been able to find an answer. I can not for the life of me find the rear jack point for the 2015 Prius C. I've looked at the manual but can't tell what that protrusion is. Is it the thing that I've circled in white?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    If you want to lift both sides of the rear-end at once, you could try using two jacks under the side lift-points. Make sure the front tires are well blocked and the car is on a flat surface.
    I'm not a car guy, so get some input from a car guy..

    I'm sitting here thinking, why would you need to pick up the whole rear end of your car?

    Looking at it, it doesn't look super sturdy but I guess it works.

    I don't see any other protrusion in that area so I figured that was it.

    If it came down to it, I was thinking of resorting to exactly that.
    I used to lift up my entire car for quick tire rotations and figured I'd try that with the Prius.

    Do you think you or anyone else could post a picture of the front jack point? I really appreciate your pic and others verifying so. Trying to complete the 105k maintenance on my own with the tire rotations left.

    The components in the line drawing look quite unique. It's near the front, central, I would just take a look.

    I want to jack my car up to do the Transmission fluid change. However the issue I have with the rear jack point, is that it's off center.

    This cleary seems that it would be an issue, in trying to evenly raise the rear of the car.

    Has anyone here actually used it.
