Yes, don't tell me about those! (Even though I happened to look at his site and saw them already. Fortunately, they'll be gone by the time I'm back home so temptation will be removed)

BTW, just got a call from the shop here. New inverter installed. Codes cleared, and guess what... 30 seconds of driving and the problem is back. Now they say it is the A/C compressor and that it must have gotten moisture somewhere in it when they refilled the coolant from the original repair. So they are springing for that as well. They are willing to take ownership of the problem and back it up, so my hat is off to them. We'll see if the problem is solved once they get this done. At least it fits with some version of the original repair. I can't imagine that moisture could cause a problem with the A/C, but who knows? So what started as a replacement of the thermostat will have yielded a new inverter and a new compressor. Let's hope that's the end of the story, although some new brakes would be nice too... ;)

Oh no!! But, like you said, new parts and they're owning it so it could be much worse. I wonder how in the world you get moisture in the A/C by replacing a thermostat OR by replacing an inverter. Who knows? Before they get done, you might end up with a new traction battery, too. But I hope they run out of stuff to break before it's time to come back to FL.

I tend to think that there may have never been a problem with the thermostat and the real problem all along was either the AC or the inverter. Possibly some kind of short in the AC took out the inverter.

pluggo just got a free a/c compressor on his 2013 pip, but the a/c stopped working as soon as he drove away.

Just type chiming in here. Todd atTampa hybrids really knows his business. He's been doing Toyota prius's for probably 12 years now. I've bought several from him and he's willing to give free advice too. I might even call him on the phone and ask him what could be the situation. He might be able to give you some advice over the phone!.. just saying
