Any one else getting more than 30 per charge?

    So I wanted to know if anyone has noticed that the more efficient you drive, the more you get after a charge? if i drive like i am in a hurry, my miles on a charge can go down to 25.6 miles. So I thought I would start driving slower and take my time more, even though its close to 100 degrees where I live. then my Miles went up to 27.3, 27.6, 28.4, 29.2, 30.3, 30.7, and this morning 30.9.(over the past week) that is the most i have gotten on a charge. I hope to see 31 this evening on my way home. If anyone has seen this, I would like to know. I want to get to 38 miles hehe.

    If you read through this thread and others like it you will find this is standard fare. The EV range increases based on driving conditions. I've owned the car for 3 weeks and my first EV charge showed 22 miles on the Drive 2 Monitor. My most recent EV range estimate as of today was 35.6.

    Yeah, I’m pretty diligent about keeping my score in the 90s as I drive and it seems to make a difference. Right now, I start my drive with 38+ range (35+ if I start with the A/C on).

    If I didn’t have to run the a/c, I would be getting 38. With a/c on I get around 28.

    I’m getting a steady 55km on a charge with A/C use. GOM is 5% optimistic (says 57km)

    Very interesting about GOM. I have driven over 35 miles from a starting point under 32 and not made 25 miles when starting with 35. So many factors, but temperature and elevation changes seem to be the major factors. Almost 1-1/2 years has shown this to be the case.

    The GOM is not a very useful feature. I only look at the range I actually achieve. The other day, around town with no A/C, 27 miles on 75% of the charge.

    Agreed. To clarify my earlier post about the 38+ estimate, the actual round-trip range ends up being about 29 each way, on average.

    I consider GOM EV range to be a measurement of a trend for past performance, not a future prediction. Since the car has no way to know where you are going or how you are going to drive in the future, you can't put much faith in the GOM number EV range. However, for the past performance and seeing trend on any changes either decreasing or increasing EV range, it does give me a fairly good estimation of what to expect if no big surprise happens.

    I got a shock this morning seeing my GOM reading 30 when it usually reads 38 after a full charge. Then I noticed the a/c was still on. Turned of the a/c and it jumped back up to 38 right away. Still loving my Prime.

    I turned on the car today and the GOM said "only" 35.6. Then I realized the A/C was on, turned it off, and presto: 40.0. My first 40!

    Newbie Prius Prime Owner (as of Wednesday August 7). I see the acronym GOM being used in a lot of threads. This means??

    “Guess-O-Meter”: The MFG’s estimator of how many miles you will get on a charge.

    Broadly speaking, I’ve found the O’Toyta guesstimatron to read “pretty close” — around 5ish% high, *if you mostly stay below 55-60MPH*. More like 10% too optimistic if you spend much time above ~60 MPH.

    Big increase there! Seems a little iffy, but then again, I haven’t ever seen much higher than 35, even with climate control off...

    Our 2017 went down to ~24 for ~6 months, but it’s back up to ~30 now for the past 4-5ish months. In that regard, I definitely recommend using timed charges wherever possible — “tanking up,” shortly before leaving.

    Thanks for the enlightenment. I was seeing the estimated range only in the HUD display (my 2020 is a Limited edition). I was seeing the battery percentage on the Hybrid System Indicator display. The HUD display after a full charge was showing only 23.7 miles but the car is brand new and I drove the first day and half without doing any manual charge. I have done 3 charges since then, one when the EV capacity charge state was effectively 0 and and the others when the battery percentage was around 50%. I guess I need to run the car a few weeks so that the GOM gets more accurate.

    The estimated EV range increases within the first few months of ownership. The owner's manual makes mention of this. When I first charged my 2020 Prime Limited the Drive 2 monitor showed 22.0 miles of EV range but has increased steadily since. As of this weekend, it's now up to 37.7 miles.

    Also, keep in mind how much warmer temperatures influence that value. 2.5 years of ownership here in Minnesota, the most I ever see is 34 miles... which is still well above the 25-mile rating.

    Helpful, thank you. I’ve heard the cold temperatures materially reduces the range. It will be interesting to see what the range drops to.
