Is there a way to test a used brake accumulator assembly? If I were to pull one from a car in the junkyard or buy a used unit how would I know if it’s good or bad? Are the new replacements a different part number or is there a way to tell if a unit is an updated part? I’m assuming the new Toyota part is an updated version that is not susceptible to failure like the originals. Oh, I have a 2007 Prius throwing codes c1256 & c1391. Thanks! iPhone ?
It would not be a good assumption to believe the current brake actuator has a lower failure rate than the original design. Usually a newer part will have a bigger number on the part number suffix compared to an older part. I do not believe there is a reasonable field test other than installing the actuator to see how well it works and how often the pump needs to run.
