    Hi Montgomery,

Thank you for the constant support! I think i speak for many to wish you success in this difficult time.

I want to take this opportunity to clear the engine cover situation. It is not a isolated event with American vehicles. European ones has reported the same issue also. I think Taiwan might be too hot for the reason we didn't catch it and the manufature didn't either. Plastic bends really easy in this climate. There are a lot of vehicles running the 15330-37010 Red Bullet stock. 4 variants of Prius running the same engine with only the Gen 3 having the engine cover with tight fitting issue.

The Red Bullet will make your engine run more efficiently that will be by giving you more pep and also giving you economy if you can drive the way you use to before the Red Bullet, Its 35 to 40 degrees summer here in Taiwan, I have my air conditioning running and ruining my MPG non stop, so I am now enjoying the pep spectrum of my Red Bullet and not looming over the MPG anymore. Overtake, catchup with traffic, merge traffic all with good pickup performance. In regards to your situation of not having enough power and red lining to achive desired performance I would tend to think a stuck caliper or some sort. I have being driving the Gen 3 recently for R&D reasons and i realised its very easy to go into the red zone on them. The ECO mode was... lets just say I'm short so the gas pedal was a bit of an effort if you really wanted to get going.

I hope everything is taking a turn for the better for you Montgomery. We really enjoy your company.
If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to post and discuss!

I have yet to see any testing that supports this claim. Several “my car goes faster and has better throttle response” replies, but where are the test results that show lower fuel consumption?

    Hi jb in NE,

Thanks for bringing up the lower fuel consumption comment. Let me start by saying, no way did we ever claim it will be able to save up to 15% in fuel consumption, who ever said that either lied or lied. I think this has a lot to do with a persons integrity. But lets get back to the point at hand.

We explained multiple times that the Red Bullet increases efficiency of the engine performance by around 10%.
This was observed by installing the upgrade on the intake side of the engine, some vehicles have both intake and exhaust.

How the 10% is utilised is totally up to the operator of the vehicle and the terrain which the vehicle will be operating in.

I have two examples of mpg, such as the 901km on one tank challenge (36L tank on the PC) for one and the highway run of 858km on a tank is there in the front of the post #68 this thread. These point to better fuel economy because I was gunning for the fuel economy by investing my gained 10% of efficiency on it as much as I could. This took a lot of discipline for such a long challenge period. So the evidence is there for your reference.

Now by understanding how the Red Bullet works to aquire the 10% increase you should be able to appreciate why one might not be able to show 10% increase just in fuel economy by commuting in a very hilly geographic location, because that 10% will most probably be invested in better hill climb performance instead.

Better utilisation of pulse and glide is definitely a good way to boost MPG if your environment allows for it. With more pickup by giving the same amount of throttle input, brings new possibilities to increase that pulse glide mpg margin. Many also reported seeing the MPG go up on the dash after installation in urban places too.

I think it all comes down to how you utilise that 10% gain of overall efficiency.

For example nowadays i go only for comfort with air conditioning and getting to where i need to be for business. How i get there and when I get there is more important to me then how much fuel it took me to get there. But I know the option is there if I want to get more MPG.

I hope that brings some insight to things which had happened in the past, present, and future in regards to your question on economy.
Watch out for the 15% fuel economy gain!

If you have ideas of how we can have a standardised test for the economy by taking out the human element i would be interested to do it.

You have not shown any testing that confirms a 10% "efficiency" increase. What is your measure of "efficiency." If the engine is more efficient at the same load, then the mileage should increase accordingly. So far, all I've seen is anecdotal evidence, which isn't convincing.

The way you would do this test to eliminate the influences of hills, wind, etc., is to run the test on a dynamometer under controlled conditions. Similar to the EPA fuel mileage testing.

Not to be rude here, but so far all I've heard is a lot of nonsense. Show some conclusive testing under controlled conditions, not the vague claims you have made to date.

Hi JB: Since i had mine installed, my mpg went up from 50-52 to 63-65mpg daily. For me, that's a test result I'm reaping the benefits from everyday. Hope that helps.

To me, that’s anecdotal evidence, not a test result. They are significantly different.

The dynamometer is a good idea to do, we did do for power output when we used the Red Bullet on a fixed geared vehicle. The graph is on this thread from a while back. Now coming back to the 10% "efficiency" that you are concerned about, it is really difficult to describe it to a person who hasn't experienced it, but I will do my best. Before I do that, I can understand why you want to see it to believe it and I respect that, but please also respect people spending the time to explain it to you and telling you there experience.
The VVT-i workings and fundamentals are on this page from which I quoted from and the original post was from Jimbo. If you understood that part then we may have productive future discussions but in the mean while many others are enjoying the benefits already and trying there best to share it with you. We are not asking you to buy jb in NE or listen to us, this has been your choice and right all along.
We hope to have the test data available for the specific inquiry you have and for others who have doubt but for the time being can you agree that the pep from the Red Bullet might be a reality, and our lead foot to the metal is not a form of anecdotal evidence.

Hi guys and girls a little announcement for Prius Gen 3 owners with a Red Bullet installed. We have the solution for your engine cover situation! It took sometime but we got it! Custom made to help you clear your engine cover!
    20190731_221527.jpg
We measured it so many times but was finally able to produce our custom CNC ball stud for the rear grommet. We will be sending to everyone who has a Red Bullet which is on a Gen 3 from our address record, I know some ordered there's via Hybrid Pitstop so we will try to communicate with them regarding the situation.
Thank you for reading! And thank you for the constant support!

That doesn't "solve" the problem. It just raised the cover, to where it wasn't designed to be.

    Hi ASRDogman,

The new designed Red Bullet #G3 will be able to clear the engine cover without the ball stud mod, this ball stud we spent weeks to design and manufacture out of pocket was for the Red Bullet which were installed previously.
We are also thinking about bluing it for extra toughness! There are many options for the finish which we will look into before we send out!
I was very upset about the cover situation, even so when trimming and cutting were mentioned. I hope this is a better solution verses that, in the meanwhile it should give slightly better ventilation for the engine. I have read someone where with a cooler engine gave a few owner better MPG but I do think that might a bit how jb in NE put it "that’s anecdotal evidence".
I hope to send the ball stud soon! please bear with us, we thank you for your support.

The fact that NOBODY bothered to check to see if it would fit, correctly, makes me suspect.
Oops, we didn't know the cover would be in the way....Clearly it was NOT tested on
the third generation of Prius. Or else SOMEONE would have notice and said something.

There is still no evidence proving it will improve anything.
And as much as it costs, that a LOT of fuel and food me and my Prius! :)

I am really happy about the way the ball studs turned out! The Prius Gen 3 cover is really unique compared to its brothers, I do believe it resembles much with the Prius V, although the engine is exactly the same, it is very hard to tell just by putting them side by side. All the others do not have the rear lip which is in the way.
The engine cover is in the way of one model does not mean it will be in the way on other models.
All Red Bullet owners who ordered for the Gen 3 are covered, we will be sending them out by mail within the next week.

Hi Dog. Perhaps read through all the threads again since first post? Seems there are several tests done and user feedback that gives evidence of improving mpg and power. I'm reaping the benefits of it everyday...so I have to disagree with you saying "no" evidence is out there..anecdotal or not. Hope that helps.

No, just because a few people "say" it's improving, doesn't make it so.
That's what con men do. They tell people something and they believe it.

That is usable information. Much more so than those who have never used the product and have no intention of buying it.

I have nothing to say about MPGs my self. My wide range of driving and types of terrain have shown mpgs in the 20s lol to 60s so Im not a good candidate for that. I understand ASR point that the best thing is to have rule based Scientific methods of testing from a a neutral 3rd party. This would be possible at a high cost and no way would be worth it to do when the RB costs a little over $100 and is a niche product that will never sell the high volume to support the cost of lab testing in the $100k+ range EASY. I would say $250k as minimum to do a good complete test. The RB would need to sell for double or triple to pay for that lol. Anyhow all I know is that it made very noticeable power increase on the low and mid range at the same RPM. I did not see a decline in MPG when driving normally vs stock. Just for the power and response alone it was WELL worth upgrade for the low price. Any MPG gain for me is just a bonus.
