Maybe I just like ugly cars? I've always kind of wanted a Pontiac Aztek, BECAUSE it looks like something an eight year old would draw, if they wanted to make a "neat" car. No sober, adult should ever of designed that look and expected commercial success. But that's why I like it. To be honest the "ugly" look was part of my attraction to Prius. I always thought the much unfairly maligned look of the Gen 2 Prius was great. I liked my Gen 3 Prius more because of it's connection to the look of the Gen 2, than for it's attempt to look sportier. I'm not going to comment extensively on Gen 4. But it seems to me to be ugly, not in the same arguable way people disliked the look of Gen 2 and Gen 3. I feel Gen 2 and Gen 3....saluted their own efficiency and utility, created out of a wind tunnel and utilitarian design. Looks be damned! Gen 4...well? I do think Toyota was trying to NOT be like Gen 2 and Gen 3. They wanted this Generation to be beautiful. With Gen 4 Prius I'm just going to cannibalize/modify a quote from the Movie Arthur-apologizes to anyone it might offend. " Have you ever seen The 4th Generation Prius when the light catches it just right? The Prius is really quite beautiful. Of course you can't always depend on that light. "
I LOVE that lightning bolt tail light design. One of the reasons I bought it. The other is that it looks like a Juggalo (OK, not really, but it is a striking resemblance, isn't it?). I do really like the front end of the Gen 4 Prius. Prius: Juggalo:
They've got to be kidding. That Civic is super ugly. Honda designers: "Hey, let's put a bunch of blocky plastic inserts on the back side that look super cheap and apparently do nothing."
I would love to know how they did a power slide with the pedal e-brake. That's my one complaint about the Prius: how am I supposed to do doughnuts in an abandoned snowy parking lot with a foot e-brake? I'm old and don't have the time to relearn the mad winter skills that I mastered in a 1982 Honda Accord (that had over 350 000 km on it when it finally went to scrapyard heaven).
Yep - I learned handbrake turns on a TOYOTA (my previous car had one of those umbrella pull ones from under the dash which wasn't as easy) - "Power" slide?? - in a Corolla!! 1077cc and, I think 60 horses. Now they've ruined my fun.
I don't know why there's so much hate on the Gen4. With the side moldings, I think the car looks great. Here's mine:
LOL....I didn't buy the Prius for the looks. I bought it to save me money on gas and I wanted a hatchback.
Yep - same here. I don't recall ever buying a car for it's looks. My Mother-in-Law once mentioned that her car (I think a Mitsubishi Magna (Galant) at the time) was so solid "look at the shape of the bumper bar". When I went over to it and depressed the plastic cover - she lost all confidence in her "super-solid" car. I told her there was a steel bumper behind - I don't think she believed me.
