Oil Catch Can, Eliminate that knock!

    Does anyone know the specs of the PCV valve and where it connects to? I bought a cheap Ruien 0046 off amazon and need to make sure I have all the proper fittings and hoses. I'm also planing to clean the EGR valve finally and do my oil change at the same time as well as get a new PCV valve.

    Also what type of hose to look for and who sells it? I have a nearby Lowes, Home Depot, Auto Zone, O'Reillies.

    Do you mean the PCV valve part number? If you phone the dealership and just tell them what you need, they'll sort it out. If that's not in the cards, go to somewhere like McGeorge Toyota Parts online and search for it. Save you a search:

    What a lot do is cut the original hose between the valve and intake manifold, around the middle, push in 3/8" brass couplers*, then push 3/8" Inside Diameter fuel line hose onto the couplers, run that to their OCC. The hose I'm using is spec SAE-30R7. I believe if it ends in 6 it's more or less the same. Part number for that OEM hose that gets cut, it's a little obscure:

    12261-37060

    The main reason for cutting the OEM hose, is because it's ID's are a little tricky: it flares out at the intake manifold end. So the simplest route is to cut it and splice in.

    * The brass couplers are either brass barb hose couplers, readily available in any hardware store, or similar PEX couplers. I would say the latter are preferable, because they have much less tenacious couplers, can be pulled off. The barb couplers are like their name, very hard to pull off.

    I couldn't find PEX within walking distance, so have taken to getting barb style and "blunting" the barbs. Chucking them iinto a drill press and using it like a lathe is a simple way to do this: get it spinning, then just knock the sharp edge off the bars with a file.

    While at the hardware store pick up hose clamps. It's pretty close to the smallest size will do, but bring a long a piece of hose to verify. You can get kosher automotive clamps, but with all the couplers being brass, hose clamps are fine.

    A picture of my setup, a while back. I've since put automotive clamps on, but it's overkill:

    You can see the OEM hose cut in half, connected to couplers. Note the flare-out at one end. Also, I use the screw-clamps only on the new connections; continue to use the OEM spring clamps on the original hose ends. Note the screw-clamps can put a point load on the spigot, and if it's plastic might crack it. That's the case at the intake manifold connection.

    I will do exactly that. Though I wonder how people get to the valve and the OEM hose. I've seen people take the intake manifold and more off to get to it, but I've heard you can get to it from under the aero cover.

    I read about 2-3 pages and wasn't seeing the info I was looking for. I knew someone possessed the info I needed, saving me 70+ pages of reading. If I can, I will measure the intake manifold part, with my calipers. Will measure the new and old PCV valve nipple, too.

    You probably should take intake manifold off anyway, clean it thoroughly. Watch @NutzAboutBolts video on that. Texting with my left thumb, you'll have to search lol.

    I am not making these, I was not 100% happy with how fdm materials hold up to engine temps. The 3d printed material sags with heat or becomes brittle.

    Moroso has "kits" for a lot of US domestic cars, basically their universal can plus car specific bracket(s) and complete install instructions. They typically hitch-hike on some existing connection. Hoses layouts are thought out and explained too.

    Unfortunately such a kit does not exist for the Prius, but you can get the universal can, which comes with a ring bracket, and a bent bar piece with holes for connecting to a vertical face. It's up to you to sort it out though, use what you can, figure out a secure mounting location.
