TorquePro? Dongle? I need advice!

    Hello World! …as it says in the title, I need advice (…or help, although I think I might be beyond help! :rolleyes:) I'm looking for an app (for Android) and a dongle so that I might monitor all the TractionBattery information plus all the other useful features on TheChuggyPig (2009 Gen II, 153k miles, two owners, carefully maintained and currently driven by a curmudgeonly Old Fart!) What would you recommend? Thanks in advance! :) - Wil

    I have an inexpensive dongle from Amazon ($23) and Hybrid Assistant app as well as Torque Pro and Dr. Prius. All are good apps, though Torque requires a bit of fiddling to get what you want. This dongle does not (I don't think) read ABS codes. It may be the apps' fault, but I am not sure. Anyway, I get by with those. Hybrid Assist is a very nice app for looking at things while driving (not too much, please!). Dr. Prius monitors the battery very well and even predicts the useful life left in it. None of these apps are expensive.

    I appreciate your prompt reply. I'm particularly interested in the voltages and temperature of the battery, and I'm not really concerned with running it whilst I'm driving (…I have enough to do just driving the bloody car, looking out for the other distracted drivers/pedestrians/cyclists without having to worry about answering the phone, navigating, answering texts, running real-time diagnostics! o_Oo_O)

    I use the OBDLink LX/MX adapter. This works well with Hybrid Assistant, which has a good set of display charts. More useful, it stores the data and can output it in graph format or raw data that you can pore over to your heart's content.

    I have Torque Pro and an el-cheapo ELM dongle that I've been using for years for all manner of vehicles, but it won't read my Prius. I've seen a thread here where peeps seem to have battery and all manner of data in Torque. Am I just missing how to do custom PIDs or do I need something else?

    Thanks for your time...

    Depending on the version, you should be able to select or load the Gen2 Prius PIDs from within the app. If you can't, then this thread should be able to offer direction : Gen2 Prius: Custom PIDs for Torque (Android App) with formulas | PriusChat

    If using Torque is a hassle (it is, and personally took me over a month), then look into some of the other droid apps mentioned above in this thread over here =>> OBDII Android App | PriusChat

    I recently got a copy of TorquePro to use with my Android Tablet (plus a dongle) and although there's so much useful information to be had, the thing was a bit of a PITA to set up and I found that the PID for block #6 Internal resistance was missing, so I'm thinking that perhaps I could just copy one of the others (there are 13) and just tweak some of the numbers, but I've no idea how to do this, so HELP!

    I also have a copy of DrPrius. I'm only really interested in how the TractionBattery is faring, and DrPrius has some diagnostics which check the condition of and the life expectancy of the battery.

    Any suggestions from those who know far more about it than I, and thanks in advance!!

    I followed what SFO linked for Torque Pro and it Just Worked (tm). I haven't checked out Block 6 specifically, but it's present as an available selection, iirc. I'll check that when I get home to see if I didn't miss it. I didn't even have to import anything, just dropped the CSV into .torque/extendedpids and *poof*. Magic Happened. I have checked out it sees the new PIDs and I can do gauges with them, the tablet is mounted in Wembley and ready to roll with just a couple of things to start with as a trial. Haven't done more 'cause weather has been nice and I've been riding the motorcycle...
