Any one else getting more than 30 per charge?

I also precondition every morning before driving off. Temps have been a little warmer about two weeks ago and my charge was 30-32 miles. Parking outside now so we encounter frost but pre-cond removes it. Lifetime mpg is now at 124 mpg.

 

With the weather warming up a little I am getting 30-32 on a charge. in the winter I was around 27-28. Car is in the garage overnight

 

I am getting 34 miles per change with temperature range 40-60. The Prime is in garage. But my wife reduced that to 30. She usually gets 4.5miles/kwh, I got 5.5miles/kwh. This is with 60% freeway.

 

Got my best EV miles today. 36.5 miles. This was only because I stayed of the freeway and the outside temp was 70 degrees. I’m loving my Prime more and more.

 

I could probably get 50-60miles one way! By the time I get from Lake County to Sonoma County the battery has generally gone from "close to empty" to "close to charged!" Hehe.

 

Are you sure your tire pressures are set right? Just a few PSI can have a pretty significant mileage impact.

I'd really, honestly like to know what the source of these assertions about Mitsu and Nissan are derived from. I know these two have relatively lower quality reports in Consumer Reports, but I've never seen them below like Land Rover (which is admittedly a really, really low bar), and I'm not sure about where the ethical problems come in.

I always thought of Subaru and Mitsubishi Motors as being the car-building hobbies of major Japanese conglomerates. It's kind of sad to see how Mitsubishi cut every sporty car from their lineup (no more Evo makes me cry). I'd argue that they have been haunted for decades by their huge mis-step in the early 2000s with the 0/0/0 offer and subsequent massive number of repossessions (which basically killed them in the US). They also seem to have really lagged in the way of investment into new cars and platforms (which is kind of understandable given their poor performance over the years) which has led to them really lagging the market.

It's kind of unfortunate how poorly people seem to think of the 1st Gen Insight, since it was one of the first mass-market cars to have an aluminum body and frame (then somewhat revolutionary) along with the NSX (and there's people that would tell you that the two cars shared some engineering teams, though I'm not sure if these rumors are true).


I got 34 miles on EV today.

 

I usually get between 31 and 34 miles per charge. It is a Prius Prime Advanced. To date, my average, including freeway and in town mileage is well over 130 mpg. However, with summer coming the air conditioning will bring that down. This is our third Prius.

 

Too many hills for me. Have a 35.6mile commute to work. Best ev range I got was 34.9. Twice. Have not been able to replicate it. Usually between 28-33 depending on how heavy my foot is that day. Regardless, it is way better than the 22 posted in the owners manual!

 

I got 32 miles on Tuesday morning normal LA freeway morning speed. Same route I-605, I-105 on Saturday morning I got only 22 miles. Faster speed less travel time less EV miles.

 

I've owned my 2020 Prius Prime Limited for 7 days and the GOM after my first charge showed 22.0 miles of EV range. It has gone up precipitously since the first charge. I'm now up to 30.3 miles EV range on the GOM. The most actual miles traveled in EV mode on one charge is 29.1 miles with the GOM showing 3.6 miles left.

Perhaps this is ambitious, but I'm looking forward to hitting 40.0 EV range on the GOM. I love this car!

 

I generally ignore the GOM. All that matters is actual EV range achieved.

 

The thing is that PRIME does not display the actual EV range achieved on any place, and it is usually not easy to measure the actual EV range manually, especially if you switch EV/HV or you don't use up all EV range in a single trip.

 

My approach has been to do my local driving on EV whenever possible. Usually I can make a local round trip on EV, and arrive home with battery above 0% indicated. If I need to go farther than the EV range, then I toggle to/from HV mode with the goal of arriving home with the battery near zero. It isn't a perfect system, but I have found that the GOM hasn't helped me deciding when to shift back to EV mode. I generally learn from experience on a repeated route.

 

Hybrid Assistant can output this data (not in real time), and it would be nice if the car could as well:

 

True, GOM does not help much for switching EV and HV. It is just showing a past tendency. And it's a trophy score just like eco score, not much of actual use, but at least increasing number indicates you are doing OK. I have actually measured the true EV range and compared to GOM over three months and found for my routine commuting, the GOM gives a very good estimate. However, if I drive under a vastly different condition (route, speed, temperature, etc) from my daily routine, then GOM can be off a lot.

 

My 2017 prime at 23k and currently at 36mi per charge.. the most impressive about this car is that the gas tank is just the beginning of 3rd refill. I think it’s time to kick on ICE and burn all the old gas.

I was averaging 37mi/ charge for June. That was me driving conservatively in the city and losing points at some lights that would turn red and make me slow down faster than ideal. ~5.8mi/kW.

Ended up 1st / front page on scoreboard mpg scoreboard (basically didn't use any gas for 880mi) and 15th / front page on Eco Score (98). The only person who beat me on both pages was "PTIsPriusPrime". I would have had them if not for letting a friend drive it which drive down my eco score.... can't do anything about the mileage though, they put in ~100 more miles than me (~3 days of driving for me)

In July ive been driving differently, using AC liberally and going beyond the EV range. I'm at 33mi/ charge. I kinda wanted to see what my range would be like if I didn't care about range.

 

I’ve found the terrain, temperature as well as your accessories usage has a big impact.

 

I’ve had as much as 34. I admit I have not been as attentive to the tire pressure as I should be.
Picked up 1/12, purchased gas 3 times , just turned 5000, average is 203.6 mpg. I’m happy!
