Yet another annoying thread on the backup beeping (sorry). So I have an OBDLink II LX bluetooth adapter. I'm trying to figure out if there is an app I can use with this to stop the beeping. Everything I'm seeing suggests Carista, though, and all the instructions I see are using Carista. Is that really the only relatively inexpensive, non-professional solution. to buy their adapter and use their paid app (with 1 week trial)? I don't see how to do it on any other app I've downloaded, and the Carista app doesn't like my OBD because they say it does not support ELM 327 v 1.4. I don't really want to subscribe to something, but if this as a one-shot can stop the beeping, with the one-week trial, I suppose it is what it is. At least their adapter is only $20 (probably a loss leader to get you to subscribe).
Another option is to ask your dealer to do this for you at no cost on your next service visit. Many dealers will accomodate.
Thanks. Just had my 1 year/10K visit last week, though (with 5,400 miles). I don't mind doing it, just want to make sure eating another $20 and getting a 7-day free trial to Carista is the only option short of that. I can always sell it when the trial is over and get some of it back.
There are a lot more settings you can change with Carista, so it may be worth the $10 to get it and check out all the settings. Attached are some screen snaps of Carista when I used it on my car in February 2019 (some screens have duplicates, apologies in advance). I found another thread where a commenter noted he used "Prius Tweak" which is a free app.
I love Carista. I just spent north of $30K on the car, another $20 for Carista is chicken feed. Did you know the sound level for the turn signal is programmable? I didn’t but now I can hear it with my hearing aids. Amazing.
Carista is pretty great, deck things out while you have the premuim version. I removed the backup beep, and changed the blind spot monitoring setting so after 3 seconds near an object it stops warning you. You can also tweak the seat belt warning, single click of the turn signal (how many times it goes off)
This. I had the service department at the dealer take care of this before I took delivery of the car. Cost - $0. OP, ask your dealer. No need to purchase any devices or download apps.
Plenty of free programs to disable reverse beep. I used Torque though ($5 for program, $10 for standard OBD2 adapter) because I already had it. One time fee. Let's you do A LOT. Pretty much create a gauge from any OBD2 output (can do that in free version, too) Now if I could only find a free one to enable rolling down windows with the fob.... Torque lets you do custom PIDs which flip the switches like Carista, but it's less user friendly and no one's published the PIDs for the Prime that enable that as far as I know... I loathe subscription services. I'd pay $40 for Carista if it wasn't a subscription. I'd rather go to the dealership and find a time when they could do it for free. Literally would take 5min of the techs time.
Yap, as suggested by @Blue-Adept, Prius Tweek still works. But it is no longer available in Google App Store. You have to download the APK file and sideload it to your Android. Prius Tweak for Android - APK Download If you only have iPhone, then your choice is limited.
Good news! Carista has been updated to work with the OBDLink LX and MX! No longer need two different adapters to be able to use both Hybrid Assistant and Carista.
You mean Carista App will work with OBDLink LX? Darn it, if so, I just purchased Carista adapter! It is going to be a waste, since I already have OBDLink LX. I have not installed an app yet. I have no intention to keep the subscription, so when I install the app I just want to play with all it can customize for the free 30 days trial. I am going to wait for the better weather to do that.
That's correct, the Carista app has been updated to work with the OBDLink LX adapter. It's in the release notes on the google play store for the Carista app. Tested and working for me.
Random question: Does Carista let you program new TPMS sensors? The description says "For some Toyota, Lexus, Scion models: Tire Pressure Sensors (TPMS)" Edit: Their website says "register new TPMS sensor IDs", so it sounds like it works. Maybe I'll add TPMS to my snow tires in that case.
I have read that it can, but have not seen anyone actually showing that functionality on PRIUS. Carista TPMS Tool | PriusChat
I downloaded Carista, and I can confirm it works with ODBLink LX Bluetooth. Setup was a little weird (I had to select a device with a random device name and hope it was right). They offer a free 1 month trial for ODBLink owners, so that's cool. I was able to change settings for Vehicle Proximity Notification Sound (although Very high sounds the same as regular to me), enabled holding the unlock button to open all windows, and changed the delay for the smart key system to unlock all doors by holding the driver's handle for only 1.5 seconds instead of 2.0 seconds (now it's tolerable but still slightly too long, instead of comically long). I'm really excited to be able to open all the windows from the remote, once it gets warmer! I'll try programming TPMS sensors later, but it doesn't sound promising based on the other thread.
