So I got in my car to go to work the other day, pushed the button, car starts turning on, then screen says Check Hybrid System, a bunch of other indicator lights light up and when I try to put the car into drive it tells me to put it into park.

I attached a pic of the messages showing.

    The car will not drive.

What should the first thing I do be? Take it to the dealership?

The car is a 2011 with 134533 miles.

The first thing to do is get the trouble codes read. Yes, a Toyota dealership can do that but it will not be cheap. Independent hybrid specialist tend to be a little cheaper. There are apps for smartphones that can do it too BUT you need a bluetooth OBD adapter that plugs into the cars OBD port that can transmit the info to the phone's app. Finally there is Toyota's techstream diagnostic software straight from the early 2000's that needs an old windows xp laptop and OBD-USB cable. If you're savvy, it can be made to work with more modern computers.

Most folks just take it in to Toyota and pay the fee but be adamant about getting the specific codes and sub-codes (you paid for them in more ways than one!).

You can reset by pushing start button 3 times without pressing brakes

Just got this the other day and I cleaned the hybrid cooling fan and disconnected the 12V battery to reset the computer and so far it worked. But my car feels a little sluggish when accelerating even before the check engine light. I saw that there was a recall for the inverter software again.. does anyone know if that can be the culprit?
