Is it possible to upgrade from Entune 2.0 to 3.0? (Even if it's to buy a new unit or use some type of tecno-hack wizardry?) It seems Carplay and remote climate control all depend on 3.0. (I have a 2019 Prime Premium and am desperate for my maps to show on the screen and climate control through the app.) (Sorry if this has already been asked - I've been looking but couldn't find an answer to this.)
Not likely able to do an over the air update, or even any update other than swapping out the head unit with a 3.0 system. That wont be cheap. I doubt the 2.0 system could handle the requirements to run. 3.0.
This question comes up regularly. I have asked it myself. Most people here have come to some level of acceptance of what an awful system Entune 2.0 is. I am still disappointed and unhappy that Toyota did that to us. As far as I know, the only option to get Apple Carplay is to trade in for a 2020 model. I keep hoping someone here will provide a better solution.
This is correct and I’m incredibly annoyed. I picked up my 2020 Prius Prime Limited a few days ago and found out today this feature is not available on this vehicle. Not just this feature but all features connected to the Prime app. There is no Prime app through Entune at this time for the 2020 Prius Prime. I also found out Apple CarPlay only works when your iPhone is connected via USB.
Toyota isn’t helping their case by having inconsistent apps and user experiences with their Entune systems.
BMW is the only one with wireless CarPlay as of 2019, so yes. That is normal; BMW is just special (and the Supra will get wireless CarPlay because it’s using a BMW headunit)
Hmm a new comer to the Prius Prime, 2019 less than 6 months. An Android user, all was well initially then I updated to entune 3.0. The app suite would fail saying 'An application must be used..... Finally, out of options, ideas and too stubborn to head for a dealer I re-installed entune. No, not entune 2.0 just entune. Whew! All works as it should. I wonder why different entunes for the 3 Prius? Not impressed with Toyota's Tech. LOL! Didn't want to go the extra 40K for a Tesla.......
You were able to upgrade to etune 3.0 on your 2019 Prime? For some reason I thought we were all stuck with 2.0?
