Yep, that was my experience a few months ago. I was super skeptical at first, I actually examined the charging station for a hidden camera thinking it would take a pic of my licence plate and mail me a bill...lol. Everybody: Volta charging stations are totally legit, they make all their money from advertising on both sides of their very large screen charge stations. Thus free charging for all.... Rob43
Good to know, but I wonder how sustainable that is. The "make money through ads" business is not exactly booming for anyone not named Google or Facebook these days.
The Volta charging are great when they are available. The ones near where I live are always being used except maybe once in a blue moon.
I know which ones I'd stay away from - Electrify America (if they charge like the ones I saw in Bridgewater NJ). There were 3 charging stands with the high-power chargers and one with the J1772 plug - the high-power ones showed a fee schedule of $1 for initial connection and $.25/min (!) when charging (and $.40/min 'standing' if charging finishes). That's a lot of money for a charge!
