    Have dealers nationwide stock them. Lots of bevs now are only sold in carb states for emission credits.

    At this point, there is not much to wish for the Toyota PRIUS BEV. Unless there is going to be major upgrading of charging infrastructure in rural area away from interstates, I can't replace current PRIME. If I am looking for an around town second car, all I need is very basic ~100 miles range BEV with no frills, but must be affordable as PRIME PHEV at ~$20K range after all rebates and incentives.

    Earlier this year when I was looking for our second car, I found a used 2014 Leaf for sale, but I had no way to drive it back to home from the used car dealer ~200 miles away. lol:LOL::LOL::LOL:

    If you can get it from Europe, the ID3(eGolf on BEV platform), will meet your requirements next year. A little over $28k, pre-VAT, with about 180 miles of range EPA. The ID Cross is coming to the US in 2022. So VW should meet your list 3 years earlier.

    Loss of space in a BEV is only a thing with ICE adapted platforms. It is more of an issue with PHEVs because batteries and hot ICE systems don't make good neighbors.

    The Prime loses 7.6 cu.ft. of hatch space in comparison to the Prius not equipped with a spare tire. While a poor PHEV in terms of range and efficiency, the old A3 e-tron only lost a few liters with a battery pack of the same capacity.

    The longer range i3 BEV, used, is on my short list.

    Considering what used Leafs go for, you could still be ahead with it delivered.

    Well, with a sticker price over $10K for a car that barely makes 40 miles in winter and with the cost of upgrading our circuit to be able to accommodate a second plug-in, plus knowing that I will not be saving any for fuel (=electricity) by driving EV, I had to pass.

    If you try to drive with the Emergency Brake engaged the call will beep like crazy at you.
    I personally hate the electronic e-brakes. I prefer a manual system for better reliability. All this drive by wire and e-crap ticks me off. What happens when it fails?

    I have been enlightened by others in this forum that it is NOT an Emergency brake; it is a Parking brake, and thus the reliability issues are not relevant. Emergency stopping is handled by redundancy in the hydraulic brake system.

    May I ask why you drive a hybrid car if you dislike drive by wire? Drive by wire systems have been proven to be reliable.
    I do agree that a manual parking brake is the preferred way since not much can go wrong and I can't find a particular compelling reason for it to exist. I guess that it is cheaper to produce these days.

    The shift to electric parking brakes is pushed by fuel economy standards. They cut weight by 10 or more pounds.

    Electronic brakes allow more flexibility re configuration & design, offer integration and addit. functionality, and have many more advantages over pure mechanical devices, just like almost any other transition from mechanical to electronic. Fuel economy is the least of the concerns... otherwise they'd be long gone in Priuses.

    Pretty much every car made in the last 10 years is drive by wire. Electronic throttles have almost completely replaced cable throttles.

    When it fails, your car stops and you call AAA.

    Drive-by-wire (accelerator pedal) has been around for decades now. Our earliest car was a 2002 Camry that had drive-by-wire and I'm sure older luxury cars had it in the late 90s. Slightly newer is brake-by-wire (maybe early 2000s? The 2004 Prius had it and for sure the Mercedes E-Class had it beforehand). There's 3 hydraulic backups to the brake-by-wire system so there's no issue there.

    Weird but if you double the battery and swap out the 25Ah cells in the current Prime for 75Ah (supposedly here by 2020) ones you’ll get about 150 miles. Since you get rid of the gas tank and ICE, and it’s support systems, you’ll probably get that room back.

    Well in 2021 the 5 year anniversary for a 2022 Prime may see some changes. Like the 2017 Prime that appeared after the initial 2012 PiPs. What those changes are who can tell. :unsure: With all those rather expensive additions that Toyota is talking about like Solid State Batteries and Triple Junction GaAs Solar Roofs it might be more Lexus than Toyota that actually sells the first EV in NA. After all, Lexus did beat Toyota with the first hybrid SUV.

    Not has a drop in to the current car. On the BEV platform they are developing with Subaru, then yes.
    I think BEVs meeting bisco's list will arrive from others before Toyota.
