I ran over my Charger rendering it completely unusable. I have been in the market for a replacement one. I used to use a standard 110v outlet in my Garage to charge the car before I broke the charger. Is there a safe option in Amazon?I see some for as low as $199 but not sure if I have to get a 220V outlet installed in my Garage before I buy it. Advise?
Buy this: 1) OEM EV charger Nissan Leaf 2011-2017 120V 12A 29690 3NF2E | eBay Offer ~$135 to $140 Rob43
Hi Rob, Are you saying I need both the Leaf charger and the Conversion Pigtails ? Sorry I am not that familiar with the technology. A bit more detail would be really appreciated.
I bought one of those $199 (bougeRV) ones so I could keep my stock one in the car. The one I got plugs into a 240V outlet (NEMA 6-20) and charges at 16A. It also comes with an adapter to plug into a standard outlet (NEMA 5-15). It also comes with a carrying case, but I just leave mine hanging on the wall. I use it both ways, for instance, it's on 240V now since I'm about to go grocery shopping soon. When I get home for the night, I'll put it on 120V for overnight charging.
Someone in amazon stated this: "I just used it as a level 1 charger. This charger a way faster than the one come with the car, about 30-40% faster." Is that true?
Nope, the "Max" amperage is a 12 amp draw, this based on the 80% rule. Example: 15 amp circuit (15Ax0.80=12A). Your OE Toyota EVSE operates the same way. Rob43
