Hi All, I have a 2008 Prius base model. I want to upgrade the mfd to sat nav, reverse camera etc. Does anyone know what is required to do this? Is it just the mfd and camera? Do I need a disc player for the nav? Has anyone done this upgrade?
Yes, one person has done the Nav, and a few people have done the backup camera. Search this forum for the back up camera. Not sure which forum it was in which I read about that Nav retrofit. A lot of work to retrofit the factory Nav. There in only one thread (that I can recall) somewhere in the Gen 2 forums where a person did retrofit the factory Nav. Can't remember the motivation, but possibly just because he could and had the time to do it. Yes, if you were retrofitting the factory Nav. It can be, if your car has the wiring already in place. But if not you'll need to run all that too. In all honesty, you'd be better to fit a newer head unit that gives you these features.
Agreed (about the head unit). I have the factory nav, and have used it, but far prefer google maps. Not to intrude, but for what purpose are you looking for factory nav, specifically?
