wow, i love that! i was researching them when we almost moved to a house with a one car garage. is that domestic? i think i saw german made. what is the ceiling height?
Geez I wish my garage looked like that. Remember that show "Storage Wars", when they cut off the lock and have a look in a storage locker? That's the right half of our garage these days...
mmm, i'm fortunate that my wife feels the same as me. however, if one of the kids asked her to store something... luckily, we have a barn, which housed our daughters 99 accord for a few years after she move to manhattan, until i finally convinced her to sell it.
We use the 2 car garage holds 2 cars philosophy. I built a work bench and shelving in our garages. If it gets more than that, the CFO knows what time it is.
Workbench, chest freezer, lots of shelves, but always space for two cars before stacking. I don't think I could stack more than Morgans though.
I can move our regular Prius around without engine start up, in 10 second bursts. I really wish you had a bit more time, say 30 seconds guaranteed.
I usually have enough charge in my battery by the time I am at home, so if I need to take it out of the garage I just press the EV button once I have powered up and that stops the warm up cycle starting and gives me the time I need to do the necessary manoeuvre.
Nice job! …reminds me of a dog we used to have many years ago, she was so smart that if she saw that, she would grab the garden hose and turn it on them!
That is a difference between North American and Rest-Of-World Prii (at least in Gen3, I shouldn't speak for Gen4). Our EV mode is disabled when engine coolant temperature is below 68F / 0C. For some climate zones that is a non-issue, but in my location, morning ambient temperature is too cold for EV about 360 days per year. Hence, our 10 second time limit without the ICE being forcibly ignited.
Yeah I think it's typically around 15 seconds when the engine lights up, so I make my limit 10 seconds, for a bit of buffer. The one time EV is fairly reliably available is when the engine is already warmed up, which is when you least needed. And yeah, again, this is third gen.
Wow, just Wow! Your shop is the upper 0.001 % of American garages. Well done! Noticed the rear bumper treatment on both prius’. Those are not standard skirts, even for a touring model. Do you install these?
The bottom car is a 2018 3 touring with the appearance package which includes the wheel inserts, front bumper skirt, side skirts and read bumper treatment stock. The top car is a 2016 4 non touring. Appearance package was not an option in 2016 but it is all bolt on so i converted front and rear bumper. The side skirts are the aero splitters and no wheel inserts because the wheels are the 15” upgraded oem wheels. The cars can park side by side and are- this is all in prep of what is coming next...
Interesting...how long does it take to move the cars around? Something like that always seemed like too big of a hassle for me...so we leave one of the cars outside ( the 2010 Prius that the kid drives ) .
