update: got another dealer in MD to quote $25,300 out-the-door (minus tax, tags, title) for a 2019 Premium with roof rails installed. Trying to beat that number currently.

OTD would include tax tags title etc. its ALL costs to drive away with the car. we dont include subsequent fed tax credits etc.
my OTD price of 25923 was inclusive of ALL fees and state TAX, so actually car was 23977+1439tax +507fees
that was for a PREMIUM 2018 leftover in FEB 2019.
if you pay no sales tax in DC thats great, and it is none of the business of the dealer.
so based on my pricing, a dealer should be willing to sell for
    23977+507 = 24484 OTD
my sales invoice actually lists vehicle, after discounts ,dealer incentives, @ 23977
original sticker price was 30930, it had lots of options...
tell both dealers you will buy a 2019 premium for 24k OTD, first one to get that number gets the sale (or close to that number).
then watch the numbers like hawk, dont finance or trade if you can avoid it. those are both places they can jiggle the numbers to screw you.
i lost count of how many times they got the numbers wrong while i was in the dealership to make the purchase. somehow the numbers were always in their favor ;)

Thanks, I apologize for not being more clear. I did manage to get the car for $25,300 /w roof rack, all season mats, and trunk liner. Bayside Toyota in Maryland as reference. That price does not include tax because you never even see what the tax would be in DC, it's just listed as exempt during the registration process. Given what you've told me, I may have been able to dip down in the $24,000 range but I'm still relatively happy. With the $4500 credit which I'll be able to fully utilize, the car will cost about $20.8k.

The really cool thing about all of this is that I sold my prior vehicle (a 2018 Honda Civic with only 8.5k miles) to Carvana for $900 less than I paid for it new (minus tax, tags, title of course) o_O. Don't ask me how they came up with that number (venture capital phase? mistake? no interest in being profitable yet??), but I jumped on it. Carmax offered $19k in comparison. Of course, I lost the sales tax ($1400) on top of that $900, but still, that hurts a lot less given I didn't pay that sales tax a year later on this Prime. In effect, I sold a $24.1k OTD Honda for $21.6k after one year of ownership and 8.5k miles. Then I bought a year newer, brand new car with a $30.5k MSRP for $20.8k. Funny how things work out...

TBH, I'm not sure how it was structured. The car's window sticker listed $30,547.00 There is a $2500 cash rebate or 1.9% finance credit right now -- I took the $2500. I feel that the other $2747 I got beyond that may be due to an unpublished factory incentive to get the 2019s out of the way? Realistically, that factory incentive could be up to $5000 (seems that was the case in the past?) so I imagine people could do even better than I did. But maybe not until there's actual 2020 models on lots beside these 2019s.

    Hi Rayvas,

Can you tell me which dealership? I’m in SoCal and the lowest price I’ve been offered is $25000 OTD for the 2019 prime plus. Thanks!

I'm looking for a Plus as well and haven't found anything that low... especially with LA taxes being ~10%.

But, if that is truly OTD in LA... wow, great deal.

this is the prime thread, but, whatever, i'll give it a go.

    1) it doesn't matter what you think you should pay

    2) i don't like that dealer service fee

    3) i don't see the 'option' charge

    3) e-mails many dealers as you're willing to travel to, and get a quote

    all the best!(y)

It's not in LA, it's in OC so the state/local tax is 7.75%.

On July 1 I leased a 2019 Prius Prime Advanced with no added options from Frank Toyota in National City, near San Diego. The price paid was $30,878 after rebates ($900 Costco, $500 military, $1,500 Toyota loyalty--it's my 4th Prius lease). After 7.75% sales tax, fees, and GAP lease insurance I'm paying $459.75 a month for 36 months, so my total cost will be $16,551. After my lease ends I can buy my car for $17,963 or get a new car.
