What recall for 2018 Prius models came out last week on June 2019?

Please read the quote again. It says "Prius models made in 2018."

I put a quote from the article in my OP. You can ctrl+f through the article to find it in the article itself if that's what you mean.

Car and Driver reported it too - but only quoting LA Times. But they concluded "While complaints like Hogan's can compel NHTSA to launch investigations and audits into ongoing recalls to determine if a remedy is working, there is no such case open as of this time."

It'd be interesting to see the real story behind some of these press reports - is this more a businessman vs TOYOTA issue? - which he's implicated TOYOTA. But I'd wait till there is a response by TOYOTA.

We've all seen the press give partial, inconclusive or poor reporting in the past.

the problem with this whole situation is the same as the past u/a. the numbers aren't high enough to make toyota do much.
that can easily be seen here, in the very few complaints of cars dying on the road, compared to the number of gen3 owners here.

Yea it's the prius C and its not related to the inverter.

"Toyota said it is also recalling the 2018 Prius C to fix DC-DC converters on about 500 cars in the U.S., which is unrelated to the inverter recalls. "

Toyota Prius Stalling Problems Continue - Details of Dealer Lawsuit

My question for the gen 4 crowd is, how similar is this DC-DC converter on the C as compared to the gen 4? Is the C a variant of the Gen 4?

My understanding is that it's very different - though the principle is the same. @Tideland Prius might know more?

I think you're right. A quick read on wikipedia seems to indicate the hybrid tech in the C is more similar to the 3rd gen Prius. The platform is similar to the Yaris, but that doesn't make a difference when it's a part of the hybrid system being recalled.

Yes, my belief is that PRIUS c was a shrunken but similar version of the Gen 3 drivetrain in a body based on YARIS platform - and has only had styling etc changes since about 2012. Very good seller - particularly in Japan.

Gen 4 PRIUS was a fairly major re-design of Gen 3, with almost nothing untouched, both body and drive-train. The only similarity is that the tyres are still black:rolleyes:.

Hmm I'm not sure. I'll pass the buck to @Elektroingenieur . Is the Gen 4's DC-DC inverter the same as the Prius c's?

Looks like I can get them for Dad's (granddad's originally) Austin - not cheap, double what a PRIUS tyre is:
