No complaints or anything. No questions really, either. I bought my 2010 '2' ("Rezzie", or Huge Rez. She's gold.) about a year and a half ago and have put 40k miles on her since driving all over the country. Yesterday I found out that if I have my front windshield wipers on and shift into reverse, the back wiper turns on. I don't even know why I'm sharing this, just was one of those "wow, that's cool!" moments.
I never noticed that. Next time it rains, I'll have to try to remember if it happens with my 2010 also.
D'OH!!! I finally get why that's 'cool' (not that we can see diddly out that back window...raining or not.)
That would be "WOW!" moment for me too if I discovered that was the case with my previous Gen3 (2015 Two). I never knew such feature existed, but now I have PRIME, I can't test it. No rear wiper on my car.
The funny thing was that I lived in snowy places for two winters, and never noticed before. Guess I always just turned the thing on manually.
Here is snowly places those are usually coded away. Nothing funny about rear wiper activating, but its deeply frozen. Happy feeling then peel of those plastic remains from the ice and hear wiper scratching rear window
Wow! I had no idea! What a great discovery!! (I usually back out of a garage, so I rarely have the wipers on when in reverse.)
My Prius had that feature. My Honda Fit has that feature. And it is MOSTLY nice. My only warning is to be aware that it IS going to happen. There are a few situations that can develop where you might not want your rear wiper to be active just because your front wipers are on and you are in reverse. For me those situations are in the winter, when sometimes my front wipers are unfrozen and moveable, but the rear wiper is still frozen to the windshield. And sometimes there is so much dirt or dust on the rear windshield, I'd rather NOT have the wiper come on, just to avoid smearing or scratching the glass. But those situations are pretty rare. But they have happened to me, then the key is to remember to back out....put it into "D" then turn on my wipers.
Today my backup camera was actually clean enough to be useful, though in truth I am old school and when backing usually forget I have it and just use the mirrors. I was hooking up my lightweight utility trailer, and I could see the hitch ball and the trailer tongue perfect! So perfect, as in their relation to each other, that if I had had the tongue jacked a bit higher, I could have positioned the ball perfectly. That My unexpected surprise. I'm still a bit disappointed though that regen doesn't work when you back down a long steep hill, I guess that detail slipped by the whiz kids at Toyota, I can live with it I suppose.
I back up 2 to 3 times a day. After a week, I'd give up cleaning the rear window and just let it collect dirt, a bit too much work.
I've carried 10' sections of conduit and plastic pipe before, but I had a 10'7" long 2x6, pressure treated, to carry yesterday. To my surprise (keeping within the intent of this thread) it fit. The forward end on the dash, passenger side (of course), gave me a little extra room then did on the floor (I have my passenger seat removed), and I could even have carried something 10' 7 1/4" long, but that seems to be about the limit. Without rolling down (there's an archaic term) the passenger window any way, an alternative method for even longer items.
