I need to haul 2000+ DVDs in cases. If I remove the back seats, spare, and possibly passenger seat, will I be able to fit everything?
Gotta love a silly math problem! Here's another: two Prius are on a train track going in opposite directions... Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Sounds like you bought out the adult bookstore. Just Kidding. I don’t think anyone has ever mentioned measuring that entire area before. According to my 2006 sales brochure luggage capacity is 16.1 cubic feet and passenger volume is 96.2 cubic feet so my guess is yes. Do us a solid and post a picture when it’s loaded up.
here are my measurements: 22x23x5 or 2530 cubic inches for passenger floor 39x22x12 or 10296 cubic inches for passenger seat area (leaving seat in place) 70x39x20 or 54600 rough estimate for cargo space with seats down, measured higher than the lowest point of the curve but not to the ceiling. 49x22x5 or 5390 space freed once rear seat backs are removed 49x12x12 or 7056 rear floor area 36x22x7 or 5544 rear storage area under flat trunk bed 24x22x5 or 2640 space freed removing spare tire total = 50.95 square feet, which just seems high to me, but assuming correct, 80% efficiency of space utilization is the minimum target.
Have you looked under the passenger seat? I have electronic stuff under mine. You might be better off piling stuff on top of the seat rather than remove it, if it even comes to that. How are you going to keep all those DVD cases from flying around the car?
30 cubic feet is 51,840 cubic inches so by your math all you will need to do is fold the rear seats down. Nothing else should need to be done.
those in the passenger seat I may put in grocery bags. everything else is going to be stacked fairly neatly so I should be able to just run some packing tape and/or cardboard across the top to help it keep its shape.
I have carried 1.5 Cu Yards of bagged mulch just by folding the seats. That is 20 2 cuFt bags. See the range of units. All the way from cubic inches to cubic yards.
You just answered your own question. LOL Not sure how far you have to take the 2000 DVD to, but If not all the DVD fits, can't you take them in two trips???
Assuming each DVD is in a standard plastic case, you have plenty of room. Put them neatly in boxes even. I wouldn't even worry about it. It's not even gong to be close. You've even got floor boards, passenger seat, etc.
Why not dump all the cases? I did that years ago ang got a large chunck of my living room back. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
