Good day all I have some questions on the ECU problem I am having. I have a flooded Toyota aqua that have some of the ECUs broken like the power management control unit and the computer mulitplex network body unit needs to be replaced. I am not able to find the ECUs with the same part number. There is an ECU set that I can buy that comes with key and push button and all the computer but they are different part numbers. Questions I have is can I purchase the set and just plug them in and would the car start or would it not work ?
Be careful- that ECU may depend on features your car doesn't have, or vice versa. I don't know what security regime Toyota used, but it's not uncommon to have the ECU, starting key, body module & combination meter all linked together for anti-theft. You need the dealer computer to break/make the links between these modules. This is very common on post-2004 cars, but I'm not certain what Toyota did in these.
What I know is that the Toyota aqua has about 7 computer modules but I don't know which ones have the eprom immobilizer chip that can prevent the car from starting. I dont know much about ECUs but from what I have searched persons who have swap ECU with different part number which are off by 2 number get it to work but reprograming it. But it was mostly normal cars not a hybrid like the aqua. I am lost I'm hoping someone can provide more knowledge on this topic.
