Anyone else notice the comment that 2020 Primes would hit the lots this summer in the Carplay announcement? Seems consistent with the Fleet guide is already taking orders for delivery in that timeframe. I guess 2019 will be a short model year. Might explain the limited inventory out there....thoughts?
It does seem that the 2019 inventory was limited. I am unsure whether that provides an explanation but may be? I put money down on a 2019 Prime on April 1 and was told 6 to 8 weeks. I learned today from my dealer that the car was allocated to my dealership and a VIN was created. It will be manufactured in Japan in a few days and it will be a 2020.
2019 Prime availability in my region is actually expanding now, to 5! Up from 3 last week. The 2018 Prime closeout sale had far more units available. There seem to be no incentives here now, not even the $1k of last month. They must be wanting to stretch out this meager supply to cover until the 2020s start coming in.
What detail re: trim levels was available for you when you placed your order, given the trim level revamp with the Prime? Thx.
Dealer says my 2020 Prius Prime will be one of the first in the Midwest (U.S.). The pipeline tracking screen he sent me shows that it was manufactured on May 27; ship departed on June 3 and is set to arrive June 15. The next hurdles are Plant/Port Processing; Rail Departure and Arrival; Shipment to Dealer and Dealer Arrival. He thinks the end of June.
Okay, confirmed arrival on the west coast in port on June 15th. Waiting for the next notices that include the Plant/Port Processing and Rail Departure.
I did a cars.com query last night and it picked up several within about 500 miles of Memphis. But it does not look like any are in the Cincinnati district yet.
I just ordered a 2020 Prime Upgrade packagehere in Canada. Delivery is expected in July. Looking forward to the "electric" experience. The car I am trading is a 2017 RAV4 Hybrid. Great car, just wanting more of an "EV" vehicle.
My dealer just texted me to say that Toyota called him and said my 2020 Prime is still at the Portland port. Likely waiting for a train. Delivery delayed until early July.
I'm in Ohio and very interested in a 2020 Prime LE in one of the 3 gray/silver colors. The dealer is trying to find one in production for another dealer and trade. My online searches find the closest 2 to Ohio to be Southern Pines, NC 459 miles away. The ones closer to 44114 appear to be in route, for sure the closest and cheapest in Owings Mills, MD is not on site, I called and ask. If anyone knows of any available closer please let me know. I'm not optimistic the dealer will find one with what I want in a decent time frame. Thanks!
What is the time frame? 2020s are hard to find even in California since it’s still early in the model year.
I'm a teacher. I have a long trip in mid July where I'll be stationed for 16 days, so only need to get there and back. Looking for rides or considering 2 one way rentals now. The I start back to school in early August but that's 6 miles each way and current car could make it, if it breaks I'm not far from home or for a tow.
I would take the rental if possible. Buying a car under time pressure might force you to settle for a less than ideal price.
I see that Toyota has switched their website and now lists and promotes the 2020 Prime. 2020 Toyota Prius Prime Plug-In Hybrid | Explore the Possibilities
I worked out a deal with a dealership in North Carolina that was better than my local dealership was offering if I ordered. I returned this afternoon with my new car
It looks like my 2020 Prime is leaving Portland on August 8th and will be in Minneapolis-St. Paul at my dealer some where between August 20-26th. It took almost 2 months to process it through the Toyota Inspections Office in Portland (it arrived from Japan on June 15th). Looking forward to owning and driving it. My 2003 Vintage Prius will go to a local technical college for refurbishing and resale.
Wow, not many 1st gens left on the road... how much mileage did you build up, and did you ever replace the battery?
